Fernando Alonso, driver of Aston Martin, expressed dissatisfaction with the Las Vegas circuit after the race held on Sunday (23). The Spaniard highlighted that the asphalt has insufficient grip and irregularities that compromise safety.

The race marked the 22nd stage of the 2025 championship and was held at night, with the track temperature reaching 13°C during qualifying.

Several drivers faced difficulties in keeping their cars on the ideal trajectory, even without records of serious accidents.

Grip issues affect performance

The high-speed route pleases competitors, but the type of asphalt used does not meet the standards required by Fórmula 1. Alonso pointed out that the tires do not reach the appropriate operating temperature.

The slippery surface led to recurring track exits throughout the weekend. The situation worsened with the presence of light rain in Saturday’s qualifying.

Calendar generates complaints about commuting

Alonso also questioned the position of the Las Vegas GP on the current calendar. The race begins a sequence of three consecutive stages, followed by the Catar and Abu Dhabi races.

The distance between Las Vegas and Losail exceeds 13 thousand kilometers, with an estimated flight time of 17 hours. The time difference reaches 13 hours compared to the American city.

The pilot compared the logistics of Fórmula 1 with other high-level sports. Nenhum another championship requires such long journeys in such a short period.

Statements reinforce the need for adjustments

Alonso stated that the category needs to discuss with the FIA the acceptance of the current asphalt for future editions.

  • Surface remains slippery even in dry conditions
  • Irregularities increase risk on high-speed stretches
  • Low temperature prevents adequate tire heating
  • Organizers prioritize a convenient date for the city

The Spaniard suggested a possible change of date to prioritize sporting aspects.

Final position does not reflect the car’s potential

Alonso finished the race in 13th place. Desclassificações from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri promoted the driver of Aston Martin to 11th position.

The race declared Max Verstappen the winner. The next stage takes place at Catar, between the 28th and 30th of November.

Trace maintains unique characteristics

The Las Vegas circuit has used public roads from the Strip since its debut in 2023. The configuration includes long straights and medium-speed curves.

The organization justifies the current date as it is the period with the lowest tourist movement in the city. Alonso countered that sport should take priority over local conveniences.
