What is Revisão Intensiva Especial (SIR)
The SIR represents a large-scale verification carried out by the ECI when the regular annual review proves insufficient to purify the electoral rolls.
The process involves house-by-house enumeration, pre-filled forms and detailed checking of old data.
In Kerala, the enumeration phase ended on December 18, 2025, with 100% digitization of forms achieved.
Preliminary list numbers in Kerala
Before SIR, Kerala had 2,78,50,855 registered voters.
In the released draft, 2,54,42,352 names have been retained.
The removals included 6.49 lakh due to death, 6.45 lakh due to unlocated voters and 8.16 lakh due to permanent change of address.
These exclusions aim to eliminate duplicate, invalid or outdated entries.
