Lego announced the opening of pre-sales for the first sets of the Star Wars line equipped with the new Smart Play system. Essa technology allows buildings to respond in real time to players’ actions, emitting characteristic sounds and lighting effects without the need for screens or applications during play. The three All-In-One sets, focused on iconic scenes from the saga, include the Smart Brick with wireless charger, special minifigures and interactive tags. The official launch is scheduled for March 1, 2026 in select markets.
The sets were revealed during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, at Las Vegas, and highlight the integration of advanced sensors in the Smart Brick. The Essa piece maintains the classic Lego brick shape, but incorporates accelerometers, light, sound and proximity sensors, as well as a miniaturized speaker. Interactions occur through proximity recognition between components, allowing immersive experiences based on the movements and positioning of parts.

Technology behind Smart Play
The Smart Brick represents a significant evolution in the Lego system, with more than twenty patented technologies that have never been seen before in the world. Ele allows buildings to detect movements, gestures and proximity to special tags or minifigures, triggering immediate responses.
The Smart Tags function as identifiers that instruct the Smart Brick about expected behavior. Já as Smart Minifigures incorporate elements that expand interactions, such as dialogue or character-specific effects.
The wireless charger included in each set supports up to two Smart Bricks simultaneously. The technology maintains full compatibility with the rest of the Lego ecosystem, allowing traditional parts to be freely combined.
Reactions and expectations for the future
Fans and experts are closely following the launch, which seeks to balance technological innovation with the essence of physical play. Lego emphasizes that the system encourages creative exploration and open-ended storytelling, without relying on digital devices during play.
The company plans to expand the Smart Play line throughout 2026, with updates via the mobile app to add new content and functionality to the bricks. Pre-orders are available on the official Lego website and select retailers.
