With over 150,000 registered players, the CUJU platform provides a robust framework for assessing potential. Teams like Barra from Santa Catarina, a participant in the recent youth competition, successfully integrated this technology into their scouting operations. This approach ensured a broad and objective analysis of numerous aspiring footballers.
Young talents such as Ryan Granja, 18, and Enrico Colossi, 15, are direct beneficiaries of this system, having competed in the Copinha for the Santa Catarina team after being identified and evaluated through the CUJU application. Both players were finalists in “A Jornada,” a project initiated by CUJU last year, highlighting the platform’s direct impact on their athletic careers.
“The Copinha serves as a unique stage to demonstrate how technology can support football on multiple fronts, extending beyond just talent identification,” stated Sven Muller, CMO of CUJU. He emphasized that these platforms provide crucial organizational support. “Platforms like CUJU assist clubs in structuring information, standardizing evaluations, and building a comprehensive historical record of athlete development, thereby acting as an additional layer of support for technical commissions.”
Comprehensive tournament coverage by specialized platforms
During the Copinha itself, extensive scouting coverage was a key feature. Beyond the traditional presence of human scouts in stadiums, the E-Scout platform, specializing in the evaluation of Brazilian youth football, meticulously monitored every match of the competition.
This platform currently boasts approximately 20,000 registered athletes, with 12,145 possessing complete technical evaluations compiled by a team of specialized analysts. In the current year alone, E-Scout assessed over 1,531 athletes and analyzed 252 matches, demonstrating its significant operational scale and reach in youth sports.
E-Scout’s comprehensive approach ensures that no potential talent goes unnoticed, providing clubs with granular data and insights that would be challenging to gather through conventional scouting alone. This level of detail empowers decision-makers with a deeper understanding of each player’s capabilities.
Clubs develop internal technology for advanced scouting
Beyond external platforms, several clubs are actively developing their own internal technologies to modernize athlete scouting and evaluation processes. These proprietary systems are tailored to meet specific club needs, offering integrated solutions for performance monitoring and talent acquisition.
Fortaleza, for instance, has engineered its own platform to guide its scouts and analysts on which games require observation. Internally, the club utilizes these platforms to closely monitor the physiological and performance aspects of its players, ensuring a holistic view of athlete development.
“With the support of these platforms, the Tricolor de Aço’s youth academy can monitor a universe of thousands of athletes,” noted Erisson Matias, Manager of Fortaleza’s Youth Categories. He added, “More than a thousand possibilities are analyzed each month, making these platforms essential allies in athlete recruitment.”
At Santos FC, technology is seamlessly integrated into the health and performance department, featuring tools ranging from GPS movement sensors to specialized boot-based GPS systems. These advanced devices are capable of generating precise data on kicks, speed, and player movements during training and matches.
“This technology began implementation approximately two years ago and is now present across all categories: women’s, men’s, and youth teams,” affirmed Dr. Rodrigo Zogaib, coordinator of the Health Area at Santos FC. This widespread adoption underscores the club’s commitment to data-driven athlete development.
Meanwhile, Internacional’s youth categories employ detailed questionnaires to gather data on sleep patterns, recovery status, and body aches. This is complemented by the daily use of GPS in training sessions and a comprehensive database containing physical evaluations throughout the season, all monitored in real time with iPads. In the recruitment of new athletes, the Gaúcho team strategically combines video and data analysis platforms with administrative tools and artificial intelligence resources to significantly broaden the scope of their observations.
“The integrated use of these technologies allows us to have more precise control over physical load, recovery, and athlete development, in addition to making the recruitment process more organized and efficient, increasing the number of players observed and qualified for analysis,” stated Fernando Rech, Director of Football, Formation and Transition for Internacional’s youth categories.
