One of the most profound transformations in the history of Jeep Compass is underway. The third generation of the SUV, one of the brand’s biggest successes on a global scale, is scheduled to launch in 2026 and will represent a milestone by introducing a fully electric version (BEV), in addition to hybrid options, consolidating the model’s transition to a new era of mobility.
The development of the project is at an advanced stage and foresees a complete break with the current model. The main change is the adoption of the modern STLA Medium platform, a global architecture from the Stellantis group designed specifically for electrified vehicles, which will allow the SUV to grow in dimensions and incorporate cutting-edge technologies.
This strategic evolution aims not only to modernize the Compass in design and performance, but also to position it competitively in a market increasingly dominated by electric vehicles. The new base is essential for the model to meet strict emissions standards and consumer expectations on different continents.
The new STLA Medium architecture
The foundation of the next generation of Jeep Compass is the STLA Medium platform, one of four global architectures developed by Stellantis to support its electrification strategy. Projetada for vehicles in segments C and D, it stands out for its flexibility, allowing the integration of different propulsion systems, from mild hybrids to 100% electric.
Among the platform’s technical benefits are a 400-volt electrical system, which allows for quick battery recharges, and improved torsional rigidity, which translates into greater safety and a more refined drive. The arrangement of the batteries on the vehicle floor optimizes internal space and lowers the center of gravity, significantly improving stability and drivability.
Diversified engine options
To adapt to different market realities and consumer preferences around the world, the new Compass will have a comprehensive engine portfolio. The entry-level version will feature a mild hybrid system (MHEV), which uses a small electric motor to assist the combustion engine, optimizing fuel consumption and reducing emissions in urban traffic.
One level up, the plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) will be an evolution of the current 4xe system. With a larger capacity battery, it will allow considerable distances to be driven in purely electric mode, maintaining the versatility of the combustion engine for long journeys and preserving the off-road capability that is a signature of the Jeep brand.
The big news will be the 100% electric variant (BEV), which will put the Compass in direct competition with the main electric SUVs on the market. The Jeep plans to offer configurations with front-wheel drive (FWD), focused on maximum efficiency and autonomy, and with all-wheel drive (AWD), which will use an electric motor on each axle to guarantee superior performance on any terrain.
Look inspired by superior models
The design of the new Jeep Compass will be completely redesigned, adopting a more robust and sophisticated visual language. The inspiration will come from the brand’s larger models, such as the Grand Cherokee and the Wagoneer, with the aim of raising the perception of quality and positioning the SUV at a more premium level.
The traditional seven-slot grille, an icon of the Jeep, will be reinterpreted with a slimmer design and integrated with a horizontal optical assembly with Full LED technology. Essa change will give the vehicle a more technological and imposing appearance at the front.
The overall dimensions of the SUV will also be increased. Projeções indicate that the length should approach 4.55 meters, while the width can reach 1.92 meters. The increase in wheelbase will not only contribute to a more balanced profile, but will also be crucial to improving interior space.
At the rear, the current design trend will be followed with thinner taillights connected by an illuminated horizontal bar, reinforcing the vehicle’s sense of width and modernity.
Technological revolution in the cabin
The interior of the new Compass will undergo a true revolution, with a focus on technology, comfort and high-quality materials. The dashboard will be dominated by two large floating digital screens: one for the instrument panel, fully configurable, and another for the infotainment center, which will run the latest version of the Uconnect system from Stellantis. The Este system will offer wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as over-the-air updates, which will keep the vehicle’s software up to date with new features and safety improvements without the need to visit a dealership.
The interior finish will give a leap in quality, with the extensive use of noble materials, such as soft-touch surfaces, high-quality leather and details in brushed metal or wood, depending on the version chosen. The center console will be redesigned to offer more functionality, with new storage compartments and a more modern gear selector, possibly rotating or with buttons. The increased external dimensions, combined with the optimization of the STLA platform, will result in significantly greater interior space, especially for rear seat passengers. The trunk will also be expanded, with a capacity projected to exceed 550 liters, making the SUV even more practical for family use.
Advanced security suite
The new generation Jeep Compass will be equipped with a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), taking safety to a new level. Além of the passive protection guaranteed by the reinforced structure of the STLA Medium platform, the SUV will feature state-of-the-art active technologies. Entre The expected features are the adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, which adjusts the speed and maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front in slow traffic, and the lane keeping assistant, which corrects the trajectory to keep the car centered. The autonomous emergency braking system will be enhanced with pedestrian and cyclist detection, even in low light conditions. Recursos such as blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert will also be present. The most complete versions may offer an Nível 2 semi-autonomous driving system, capable of controlling steering, acceleration and braking on highways, providing more comfort and safety on long journeys.
Global strategy and production
With the launch scheduled for 2026, production of the new Compass will be decentralized. Várias Stellantis factories around the world will be adapted to assemble the model on the new platform, ensuring agile supply to the main global markets and optimizing the automotive group’s logistics.
