Xiaomi has officially started development of its next major operating system update, HyperOS 3, which will be built on the future Android 16 platform. The technology giant has already published a preliminary implementation schedule, which will extend from the end of 2025 until the first quarter of 2026, confirming the first models in the Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO lines that will receive the new interface and its improved functionalities.

The main objective of the new version is to deepen the integration between the different devices in the brand’s ecosystem, promising a more cohesive, intelligent and fluid user experience. The company plans significant performance optimization, the introduction of new functions based on artificial intelligence and a visually renewed interface, with a focus on improving interaction between smartphones, tablets and other products in its portfolio.

The gradual rollout strategy aims to ensure a stable and smooth transition for millions of users around the world. The process will begin with the latest high-end models and will progressively expand to a broader spectrum of devices, including the popular mid-range devices that make up the brand’s largest consumer base.

What to expect from HyperOS 3 in terms of functionality

The HyperOS 3 update promises to be one of the most significant ever released by Xiaomi, bringing profound changes to both the functionality and appearance of the system. One of the most anticipated new features is the introduction of “HyperIsland”, an interface function that groups notifications and real-time activities in a dynamic area, analogous to solutions seen in other systems. The functionality is designed to minimize interruptions, allowing the user to monitor alerts, calls and application status without leaving the main screen, maintaining focus and productivity.

Multitasking will also receive a substantial improvement through a more flexible and stable floating window system, which will allow the use of multiple applications simultaneously in a more organic way, without compromising the device’s overall performance. The optimization also extends to power management, with improved algorithms that promise to reduce battery consumption in standby mode and during graphics processing, adjusted to offer greater performance in games and applications that demand more from the hardware.

Artificial intelligence as the basis of the new experience

The integration of artificial intelligence will be one of the fundamental pillars of HyperOS 3. The brand’s virtual assistant, Super Xiao Ai, will be completely redesigned to become more proactive and contextual, capable of anticipating users’ needs based on their daily habits and usage patterns. Essa approach aims to transform the assistant into a more useful and integrated tool for everyday life, offering personalized suggestions and automations.

The system will natively include generative AI tools, allowing users to compose text, create document summaries and get suggested responses to messages directly in the interface, without the need to resort to third-party applications. Outras functions include real-time voice transcription during calls or meetings, as well as a smart photo editor that suggests color, brightness and framing adjustments.

AI will also act “behind the scenes”, dynamically managing resources such as CPU and RAM to ensure that priority applications receive the performance necessary to run with maximum fluidity.

Three-phase distribution schedule

To organize the massive distribution of HyperOS 3, Xiaomi developed a roadmap divided into three distinct stages, ensuring an organized transition for the different segments of its portfolio.

The first stage is planned to take place between October and November 2025. During this period, the main focus will be exclusively on the company’s newest high-end models, which will serve as the first to receive and validate the stability of the new system on a large scale.

Soon after, between November and December 2025, the second wave of updates will take place. In the Nesta phase, the update will be released for high-end models of previous generations and for some premium mid-range devices that are very popular on the market.

The third and final phase will begin in the first quarter of 2026, with the aim of covering the largest number of devices. The update will extend to a wider range of mid-range devices, ensuring that a significant portion of the brand’s customer base will have access to HyperOS 3 innovations.

First models in line for the update

Strategically, the first devices to receive HyperOS 3 will be models that have not yet been launched, ensuring that the debut of the brand’s new products already takes place with the most advanced software. The top priority list is topped by the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series, including the long-awaited Ultra and Pro variants, which will become the company’s flagships in the next release cycle.

The expected foldable smartphone MIX Flip is also among the pioneers, which indicates that Xiaomi has developed specific optimizations for flexible screens and innovative form factors. The powerful POCO F7 and the Xiaomi Pad 7 tablet complete the initial group, demonstrating a comprehensive approach that addresses different product categories from the beginning of the update cycle.

Redmi devices confirmed in the list

The renowned Redmi Note line, which has great sales success in the intermediate segment, was also included in the initial list of models. The Redmi Note 13 series is officially on the list, which confirms the brand’s commitment to democratizing access to its software innovations for a broader and more diverse consumer base.

By bringing the new features to high-volume models, Xiaomi ensures that a significant portion of its customers will have an improved usage experience, regardless of the device’s price segment. Essa measure reinforces community loyalty and the perception of quality across the entire product portfolio.

The POCO line will also be included

POCO, a sub-brand of Xiaomi known for its smartphones focused on high performance and cost-benefit, will update its main models to the new version of the system. Aparelhos like the POCO F6 and POCO X7 were included in the first list of devices compatible with HyperOS 3. Para users of these models, the update promises additional performance optimization, especially in games and multitasking, areas where the POCO line already stands out. The new operating system was developed with the aim of extracting the maximum potential from the hardware, ensuring a gain in fluidity and responsiveness that significantly improves the quality of daily use and more intense activities.

How to prepare to receive the new system

After HyperOS 3 is released for your model, checking update availability will be a simple process. The user must access the “Settings” menu, select the “About phone” option and then tap “System update”. Antes Before starting the installation, it is essential to perform a complete backup of personal data and ensure that the smartphone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and has a battery level of at least 50%.
