Sony confirmed the expansion of the PlayStation Store catalog with the arrival of three new major titles aimed at the new generation console. The additions cover varied genres, including action RPG, competitive fighting and sports management, with the aim of attracting different user profiles to the platform at the beginning of the year. The big difference with this update lies in the access policy to online resources, since the multiplayer experiences of these specific games will not require an active subscription to the PlayStation Plus service, removing a common barrier to engaging in internet games.

The games selected to make up this free offer are Arknights: Endfield, 2XKO and SEGA Football Club Champions. Cada one brings different gameplay proposals and monetization models based on optional microtransactions, with no initial cost for downloading or progressing in the main campaign.

The strategy aims to move the console’s installed base in the first weeks of January. The release of free online access to these free-to-play titles reinforces the company’s intention to keep the community active and connected, regardless of adherence to monthly subscription plans.

Exploration and combat in Arknights Endfield

Developed by Gryphline, the title expands the franchise’s universe into a 3D action RPG format set on the planet Talos-II. The hostile environment requires players to explore dangerous territories, face constant threats and manage a complex base of operations, maintaining the balance between real-time combat and strategic decisions that consolidated the original series.

The console-optimized version of Sony promises reduced loading times and high-resolution graphics. The gacha system remains the core for recruiting new operators, allowing the formation of teams with unique skills for cooperative missions and higher difficulty challenges integrated into the game universe.

2XKO competitive dynamics

Riot Games enters the fighting game scene with 2XKO, bringing iconic characters from the universe of League of Legends into direct confrontations. The combat system focuses on duos, using tag team mechanics that allow quick switching between fighters to execute elaborate combos and synchronized strategies.

The launch coincides with the start of the first competitive season, introducing new champions and battle passes. Cross-play functionality is confirmed, allowing console users to face opponents who play on PC and other platforms, which guarantees smaller queues and a unified community.

The absence of the Plus requirement for online mode is fundamental to the title’s accessibility. The developer seeks to balance ease of entry for newcomers with the mechanical depth required by veterans of the genre, supported by dynamic arenas and impactful visuals.

Tactical management in SEGA Football Club Champions

SEGA returns to the sports management segment allowing users to take full control of a football club. Responsibilities range from tactical definition and hiring to training development, using data licensed by FIFPRO to ensure realism with the names and attributes of thousands of professional athletes.

The simulation engine was designed to accurately reflect the coach’s choices during matches. Multiplatform support is also present, enabling competitions against managers using mobile or computer versions, with an interface adapted for fluid navigation through the DualSense controller.

Release dates and optimization

The availability schedule on PlayStation Network begins with 2XKO, which should be released between January 20th and 21st, varying depending on the region of the user’s account. Next, on January 22nd, the global premieres of Arknights: Endfield and SEGA Football Club Champions will take place.

To download, simply access the console’s digital store and search for the title names. The process is direct and free, with the games already configured to run at 60 frames per second, ensuring the fluidity necessary for quick response to commands.

The use of the DualSense control resources will be a separate highlight. Haptic feedback was implemented to increase immersion, whether transmitting the impact of blows in fights or the feeling of exploration in open environments, taking advantage of the hardware to elevate the sensory experience.
