Microsoft has officially overhauled its flagship game subscription service, introducing a new pricing and benefits architecture divided into three distinct categories. The change aims to serve different consumer profiles and expand the reach of the Xbox ecosystem beyond traditional consoles, consolidating the company’s strategy of making games accessible on multiple devices. The new modalities, called Essential, Premium and Ultimate, replace the previous model and bring significant adjustments to the prices and catalogs offered to Brazilian subscribers.
Details of the new subscription categories
The gateway to the service is the Essential plan, with a monthly fee set at R$43.90. The Esta category is designed for gamers looking for specific curation, offering access to a rotating library of approximately 50 critically-rated titles, such as Hades, Cities: Skylines Remastered and Disney Dreamlight Valley. Além from the selected catalogue, this modality guarantees access to online multiplayer mode, a fundamental feature for most modern games, allowing network interaction at no additional cost.
The intermediate level, called Premium, hits the market for R$59.90 per month and takes the place of the old plan Standard. With a focus on volume and variety, this option dramatically expands the library to over 200 games, including blockbusters like Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV. One of the biggest differentiators of this category is the inclusion of independent releases on the first day, in addition to a rewards system that allows you to accumulate points to exchange for digital products in the platform’s store.
Exclusive benefits of level Ultimate
The most robust package continues to be Ultimate, now priced at R$119.90 per month. The Este plan maintains its characteristic of offering the complete experience, encompassing all the benefits of the lower categories and adding immediate access to major releases from the brand’s studios, such as Call of Duty: Classics, guaranteeing a vast library that exceeds 400 titles available for console, PC and cloud.
A strategic novelty for the Ultimate plan is the integration with the Fortnite ecosystem. Starting November 18th, subscribers at this level will automatically receive the benefits of Clube Fortnite, which includes Passe of Batalha for the current season and a monthly allocation of 1,000 V-Bucks. Essa’s partnership with Epic Games represents an aggressive move to attract the battle royale’s massive player base to Microsoft’s service.
Cloud Gaming expansion and user migration
Along with the new plans, the company announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming will leave the beta testing phase, becoming an official and stable product. Cloud game streaming technology allows next-gen titles to run on Smart TVs, tablets and handheld devices without the need for a physical console. The infrastructure has been reinforced to ensure low latency and high visual fidelity, allowing players’ progress to be synchronized instantly between different platforms.
The transition to the new model will be carried out automatically for the current subscriber base. The system will identify each user’s current plan and migrate to the corresponding category that offers equivalent or superior features, ensuring that no game history or accumulated benefits are lost during the process. The restructuring reflects the maturity of the service, which seeks to position itself not just as a digital rental store, but as a comprehensive and multiplatform entertainment platform.
