Samsung has started implementing AirDrop support through Quick Share on Galaxy S26 line devices. The resource began to be released via OTA update starting March 23, with initial rollout on Coreia from Sul and expansion planned for Europa, Hong Kong, Japão, Usuários who receive the update will find sharing with Apple devices automatically enabled, making it easy to directly transfer files, photos and videos between Galaxy and iPhone without the need for additional settings in most cases.

  • The feature integrates the Quick Share with the Apple’s AirDrop protocol.
  • The option appears in Configurações > Dispositivos connected > Quick Share > Compartilhar with Apple devices.
  • Users can disable the function at any time in the same settings.

Initial implementation on the Galaxy S26 series

The update first hits the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra models. Samsung reported that AirDrop support will initially only be available on these devices. The company plans to expand the feature to other Galaxy devices in the future, although it has not yet released the full list or exact timeline. Sharing works in a similar way to what is already present in Pixel, where the resource operates in an integrated and permanent manner. In the case of Galaxy, the function is turned on by default as soon as the update is installed, but maintains flexibility for manual adjustments.

Samsung confirmed that AirDrop via Quick Share requires a specific version of Google Play Services, recommending 26.11 or higher for full operation. Release occurs gradually and depends on the region and smartphone model. Usuários just need to select the nearby contact or device Apple to start the transfer, as long as both devices have their visibility set to “All”.

Configuration and security details

The Quick Share with AirDrop support enables wireless sharing between the Android and iOS ecosystems more smoothly. Samsung highlighted that standard activation streamlines daily use, while the ability to deactivate offers additional control to the device owner.

To perform transfers, both users must maintain the appropriate visibility mode. The system already has layers of security that limit unauthorized sending, similar to the protections existing in the original AirDrop.

Future updates and expansion

The feature’s arrival at Galaxy represents the first major expansion of AirDrop support beyond the Pixel and Google lineup. Interoperability between Quick Share and AirDrop was initially introduced on the Pixel 10 in late 2025.

Samsung continues working to expand compatibility to more models in its product portfolio. Detalhes which old devices will receive the function will still be announced by the manufacturer.

Regional availability

The rollout began at Coreia from Sul and is progressively moving to other markets. Usuários of Galaxy S26 in eligible regions must check for software and Google Play Services updates in the coming days to receive the feature. The functionality does not require extra applications and operates directly through the Quick Share already present on the devices.
