Players using these platforms will have a transition period to redeem final rewards and migrate to other experiences within the title. The company announced that advanced technical support and new content updates for these specific formats have already been suspended by the engineering teams.

The decision to streamline entertainment options within Fortnite reflects a rigorous analysis of daily engagement and server maintenance costs. The workforce reduction required an immediate rethink about which projects could continue to receive full support. By discontinuing secondary experiences, management is able to reallocate engineers and designers to improve the main survival mode and expand the tools aimed at independent creators who power the platform daily.

High-speed lane closure schedule

The Rocket Racing mode, introduced to attract fans of arcade racing games, will be officially shut down from servers in October. The modality remained active for two years, offering complex tracks and direct integration with cosmetic items from vehicles sold in the virtual store.

As the deadline approaches, all daily and weekly missions linked to this format have been definitively suspended. The producer also confirmed that there will be no distribution of new rewards for the ranking system during the current competition season.

Despite the end of official races, items purchased by users will not be lost or blocked. The inventory of cars and customizations will continue to be available in the main locker room and can be used in traditional survival mode and on maps created by the player community.

Independent islands built using the Rocket Racing base models will also be removed from the search system. Independent developers will need to adapt their projects using new features that will be made available on the company’s creation platform to avoid deleting their maps.

The Ballistic modality, developed to test first-person combat mechanics within the game’s universe, is scheduled to end on April 16th. The removal will occur simultaneously with the release of the system update package designated as version 40.20.

During the weeks leading up to the shutdown, servers will remain open so that users can finalize their progressions and test the final dynamics. The experiment served as a practical laboratory for implementing new camera dynamics and heavy weapons ballistics.

The basic shooting game creation tools will continue to be active in the platform’s editor for public use. However, the developer recognizes that independent creators will need future updates, such as support for ranked matchmaking and advanced weapon customization, to replicate the complexity of the original format.

Adjustments to the musical competitive aspect

The game’s musical ecosystem will undergo a simplification with the withdrawal of Festival Battle Stage, also scheduled for April 16th. Este specific format placed teams of four in direct competitions of rhythm and precision, functioning as the competitive arm of the platform’s sound attractions.

The goal is to shift the responsibility for creating niche experiences to the active user base itself. With the new devices, amateur programmers will have the autonomy to design complex race tracks and personalized combat arenas without depending on the producer’s pre-made models.
