Google has started releasing the Notebooks feature on Gemini for free account users. The functionality appeared in the sidebar of the web version this week. Antes, it was restricted to paid subscribers since the beginning of April. Agora Anyone with access to Gemini can create these organized spaces.

Cada Notebook groups conversations, files and history into a single project. The assistant considers all added content when answering questions within that space. Usuários can disable contextual memory in settings and set custom tone or shape instructions. The Notebooks section sits above Gems and Chats in the web interface.

Notebooks work as projects organized in Gemini

Os Notebooks act as personal knowledge bases. Eles brings together previous chats, computer files, website links, copied texts and even old conversations from Gemini itself. The model uses all of this material as context in responses.

Dentro from Notebook, you can browse sources, review history and activate tools such as web search. The feature also allows you to generate Video Overviews, infographics and other formats from Studio, the same ones available in NotebookLM. Old Conversas can be added via the three-dot menu in each chat.

  • Arquivos from Drive or direct upload from computer
  • Links of web pages
  • Textos pasted manually
  • Histórico from previous conversations with Gemini
  • Custom Instruções for responses

The contextual memory option can be turned off at any time. Isso gives more control over how much the assistant remembers of the project.

Como create an Notebook in the web version

In the Gemini web interface, the Notebooks section appears in the sidebar. Basta click on Criar Notebook and start adding sources. The process takes just a few clicks and requires no extra configuration.

Depois is created, the user normally talks to Gemini. Todas tools and templates remain available. Fontes can be managed at any time, with simple navigation between linked documents and chats.

Usuários tested the feature on Brasil and confirmed availability on several free accounts. Creation only takes place in the web version for now. Apps to Android, iOS and Mac have not yet received the update.

Limites fonts vary by account type

Free Contas allows up to 50 fonts per Notebook. Paid Planos offer higher limits: 100 sources for AI Plus, 300 for Pro and 600 for Ultra. Esses numbers apply to each individual project.

Google described Notebooks as future knowledge bases shared across the company’s products. Ainda there is no date for broader integration with other services. For now, the focus is on organization within Gemini and synchronization with NotebookLM.

In the original NotebookLM, notebooks form the center of the experience, with an emphasis on in-depth document analysis. No Gemini, they appear as an additional layer on top of the usage history. NotebookLM content creation Ferramentas, like Video Overviews, remain accessible.

Current Disponibilidade and next steps

The release for free users started this week on the web version. Google indicated that the full expansion, including mobile apps, should take place in the coming weeks. Testes shows that accounts on Brasil already access the functionality without problems.

The feature represents a bridge between Gemini’s conversational chat and NotebookLM’s structured organization. Usuários can maintain long projects without losing context between sessions. The expansion to free accounts expands access to a tool that previously required a subscription.
