Dois men were arrested red-handed this Friday (24) after being caught looting the cargo of a trailer that overturned at Rodovia Fernão Dias. The incident occurred this morning, in the municipality of Extrema, located in Sul of Minas Gerais, and mobilized rescue and security teams. The action of the duo, who were trying to take bales of beer from the accident site, was interrupted by agents from Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF). Those involved were taken to the police station for the necessary legal measures.
Flagrante and arrest at the scene of the accident
Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF) confirmed the arrest in the act of the two men while responding to the incident at Fernão Dias. The pair were seen by police officers carrying several bales of beer to a vehicle that was parked on the side of the highway. The crime of cargo theft was immediately identified by the authorities present.
In the trunk of the suspects’ car, the police found a total of 16 bales of beer already packed. Essa quantity showed the intention of misappropriation of the products that were spread across the track after the tip. The agility of the PRF was crucial to curb the continuation of criminal action and guarantee the integrity of the remaining assets.
Dinâmica of trailer tipping
The accident that culminated in the theft of the cargo occurred around 8:43 am this Friday, at km 935 of Rodovia Fernão Dias. The truck, loaded with beer, overturned on the road in the direction of São Paulo, causing a partial closure of the section. The concessionaire responsible for managing the road was contacted and promptly sent teams to the location.
Rescue and signaling teams worked intensely to ensure the safety of drivers. Initial assistance involved adequate signage on the stretch to alert drivers and guide the flow of vehicles. The causes that led to the truck overturning have not yet been officially reported by the competent authorities.
Motorista rescued with minor injuries
The driver of the trailer involved in the accident, a 25-year-old woman, resident in Contagem, suffered minor injuries. Ela was promptly attended to by a team of Serviço of Atendimento Móvel of Urgência (Samu). Após provided first aid on site, the driver was sent to Pronto-Extrema Help for more detailed medical evaluation.
The driver’s companion was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. However, he was uninjured and managed to escape the accident unharmed, without the need for medical attention. The teams’ main concern was the recovery of the driver and the safe removal of the vehicle from the road.
Carga spread and looted by popular people
With the impact of the tip, a considerable part of the beer load spilled onto the track, creating a scene of great disorder. Imagens recorded at the scene of the accident showed several people taking advantage of the situation to collect bales of the drink. Essa movement of people occurred while the driver of the truck still remained in the cabin of the accident vehicle, awaiting help and the arrival of authorities.
The scene of people looting cargo is, unfortunately, common in large-scale road accidents. The presence of authorities, such as Polícia Rodoviária Federal, is essential to curb such practices. Cargo theft in situations like this represents disrespect for the accident victim and a violation of the law.
Trânsito slow and freeway clearance
The tipping of the trailer and the scattering of the load caused serious impacts on the Rodovia Fernão Dias’s traffic. The lane towards São Paulo was completely closed to deal with the incident and remove the products. Isso generated a long traffic jam, frustrating drivers passing through the section.
- Interdição:Pista towards São Paulo, km 935.
- Partial Liberação:The right lane was reopened around 11:28 am.
- Fluxo traffic:Traffic started to flow only in the left lane.
- Congestionamento:Cerca of 16 kilometers of slowness in the affected section.
Full release of the lane is essential to normalize the flow. Support teams continued to work to thoroughly clean the site. The expectation was that traffic would be fully restored after removing all residue from the cargo and the accident vehicle.
