Saffi, an employee of the TOKYO NEW VINTAGE customization workshop, transformed an Honda Cross Cub 110 into a machine that pays homage to the XR600R from the 1980s. The project took five years to reach its current form, mixing nostalgia with precise modifications to every detail of the bike.
Tudo started simple: love at first sight. Upon seeing an Cross Cub 110 on the street, Saffi was attracted by the compact format and decided to purchase one in classic white. What was just motorcycle ownership evolved into a creative obsession, fueled by daily contact with customizations in the workshop where he works.
The concept that shaped the transformation
The goal was clear from the start: to incorporate the off-road feel of 1980s Honda bikes into a modern vehicle. Saffi researched the XR600R, the model that inspired it, and defined its visual style: reproducing the iconic red, blue and yellow color scheme of that time. The bike not only copies the colors, but absorbs all the visual and mechanical identity of an authentic scrambler from the 1980s.
The exterior has been completely repainted. Saffi herself executed the painting by hand, ensuring that each stroke reflected her personal vision. Special Pneus (3.00-17 at the front and 4.60-17 at the rear) reinforce the off-road proposal, while structural modifications, such as lengthening the rear swingarm by 4 centimeters, change the proportion and behavior of the bike.
Assentos blue as registered trademark
The blue seat is perhaps the most striking element of the customization. Saffi insisted: “Blue benches were a must.” The chosen tone precisely evokes the palette of the 1980s, creating a vibrant contrast with the red bodywork. The upholstery uses fabric from RDD, a brand specialized in customizations with a focus on aesthetics and texture. The result balances form and comfort, making the seat not only visually appealing but also functional for everyday use.
Detalhes that build visual identity
- Pintura exterior (performed manually by the owner)
- Piscas and custom taillights
- Interruptores, custom handlebars and instrument panel
- Escapamento simple facing up, reinforcing the pop style
- Calotas and integrated toolbox
- Barra TORQUE CUSTOM CYCLE CHOPPERS
- RDD bank Capa in blue
Cada element was not installed simultaneously. Saffi built the bike in stages over five years, allowing his taste to evolve naturally. Nenhum detail was ignored: even a Vila Sésamo plush toy attaches to the key, reflecting its owner’s light and relaxed personality.
Manutenção and relationship with the machine
The experience of using the Cross Cub 110 daily has shaped Saffi’s maintenance habits. Ela suffered a flat tire in the past due to negligence, and now checks the tire pressure every time he fills up. Como there is no fuel indicator on the model, it maintains a strict routine of monitoring the gasoline level before each trip. Essas practices reflect practical learning and respect for the machine that has accompanied it for five years.
Evolução takes his time
What sets this customization apart from others is patience. Saffi hasn’t delivered a finished bike after months. Ela delivered an in-progress project that has gradually evolved since February 2021 when it received the original Cross Cub 110. The vehicle went through different states: classic white, then sober black, until finally reaching the red, blue and yellow that define it today. Cada phase represents a stage of your personal relationship with the bike.
Significado beyond metal and paint
When asked about her feelings after five years, Saffi accurately replied, “My own motorcycle is the best.” Essas words contain not only satisfaction with the final work, but recognition of the time invested, the decisions made and the personal identity that he gave to the machine. The Cross Cub 110 is a direct reflection of whoever customized it. Nunca was just a vehicle that became art; It was always an extension of Saffi’s choices, feelings and creativity, gradually transformed into a two-wheeled, single-cylinder reality with an off-road heart of the 1980s.
