BYD brings 1,500 kW Flash Charging charger starting in June

BYD is preparing the arrival of the world’s most powerful charging system to the Brasil. The 1,500 kW equipment, called Flash Charging, will begin operating in June 2026. The first unit will be installed at an Denza dealership, at Brasília. The Z9 GT model will be the first vehicle compatible with the new technology.

The jump represents more than a greater number of kilowatts. Current fast Carregadores in the country deliver around 350 kW. The new system uses direct current and reaches five times this power. The brand plans to expand to a thousand units by the end of 2027.

Sistema BESS balances high power in the electrical grid

The secret to delivering 1,500 kW without dropping local voltage lies in the BESS, or Battery Energy Storage System. Esse battery pack works like a giant power bank. Ele gradually accumulates energy from the network and releases it all at once during recharging.

Sem the BESS, intense spikes could cause problems. Queda of voltage in nearby neighborhoods, excessive heating of cables and transformers, and faster wear of infrastructure appear as main risks. The system stores energy in a controlled manner and only releases high power at the exact moment.

BYD launched at China in 2024 a high-performance BESS with a capacity of 2.3 megawatts and a nominal voltage of 1,200 V. The operating range varies between 800 V and 1,400 V. Essa experience serves as the basis for the Brazilian version.

Ultra-fast Recarga redefines everyday electric car use

The Flash Charging allows you to go from 10% to 70% charge in about five minutes. The level reaches 97% in nine minutes under ideal conditions. At low temperatures, close to -30ºC, the time from 20% to 97% is around 12 minutes.

The design of the equipment resembles a traditional gas station. The T-structure has a suspended hose with Zero Gravity system, which facilitates handling and keeps cables off the ground. The standard adopted is CCS2, common in DC fast charging.

Motoristas gain practicality. A short stop restores enough range for hundreds of kilometers. The technology matches BYD’s second generation Blade battery. Essa battery increased energy density by 5% and brought high-speed channels for lithium ions, in addition to intelligent thermal management.

Denza Z9 GT debuts as first compatible model

The Z9 GT arrives at Brasil in the same period and will be the pioneer in the use of Flash Charging. The Denza luxury model features the new Blade battery in capacities of 102.3 kWh or 122.5 kWh. Autonomia can reach 1,036 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle in the most capable version.

Versões with three engines delivers power of around 1,140 hp. Nem all BYD electric cars will use the system immediately. Input Modelos, like the Dolphin Mini, are limited to 40 kW and do not take advantage of maximum power. Compatibility depends on the vehicle’s high voltage architecture.

Expansão of the infrastructure must follow the growth of the fleet

BYD’s goal goes beyond the first unit in Brasília. The company wants 1,000 Flash chargers installed by the end of 2027. Na China, the forecast is for 20,000 units by the end of 2026. The movement follows the growing sale of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the country.

BESS also paves the way for integration with solar energy and other renewable sources. BYD is already strong in the storage sector in the Brasil and can combine charging stations with panels and stationary batteries. Isso further reduces dependence on the conventional network at peak times.

Especialistas monitor the impact on urban infrastructure. Concessionárias Denza should receive the first units. Outros commercial and bus points may join the expansion plan in the coming months. The equipment reinforces the Chinese brand’s strategy of offering a complete ecosystem, from the car to the socket.
