BYD launches the Sealion 7 on the Brazilian market as its first fully electric coupe SUV. The model arrives with a power of 531 horsepower, two electric motors and a price of R$ 339,990, positioned as a direct competitor to the Volvo EC40, which starts 5 thousand reais lower.

Especificações techniques and performance

The Sealion 7 is 4.83 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.93 meters, dimensions that place it in the medium-large segment. The front engine develops 218 horsepower while the rear unit produces 313 horsepower, totaling 531 hp combined with 70.3 kgfm of torque. Acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour takes 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 215 km/h.

The model weighs 2,340 kilograms and offers all-wheel drive. The trunk holds 500 liters, while the front compartment (frunk) has 58 liters of additional space.

Bateria and autonomy

The 82.5 kWh Blade battery is integrated into the vehicle’s structure, enhancing the body’s rigidity. The Sealion 7 achieves a range of 360 kilometers according to measurements from the Inmetro. Este built-in battery system is part of the Evo e-Platform 3.0 platform, one of the Chinese manufacturer’s most modern bases.

  • Battery Capacidade: 82.5 kWh
  • Autonomia approved: 360 kilometers
  • Plataforma: e-Platform 3.0 Evo
  • Motores: 2 units (front and rear)
  • Tração: integral

Design and finishing

The Sealion 7 follows the visual language already present in the Seal model, with tapered headlights and an LED strip positioned just below. The headlights bring three-dimensional effects interconnected by a light beam that runs across the rear. The design includes a discreet spoiler on the trunk lid and another integrated into the roof. The 20-inch wheels shod in 245/45 tires complete the coupe’s aesthetic proposal.

Posicionamento on the market

The new coupe SUV fills a gap in the Brazilian BYD line, a segment that was previously absent from the brand’s portfolio. The Sealion 7 faces direct competition from the GAC Hyptec, which starts at R$315,990. Ambos explore previously unknown terrain for Chinese manufacturers in Brasil.

The Ocean family, to which the Sealion 7 belongs, already includes the Dolphin, Dolphin Mini and Seal models. The new coupe has been showcased before, including in last year’s Salão of Automóvel of São Paulo, before its official commercial debut.
