Developer Niantic has scheduled Pokémon GO Fest 2026 in the city of Tóquio for the period between May 29th and June 1st. The in-person event celebrates the tenth anniversary of the augmented reality application. The official schedule presents the world premiere of the mythical character Zeraora for users present in the Japanese capital.

The schedule includes the expansion of the City Gameplay system to cover the entire Tóquio metropolitan region starting May 25th. The initiative transforms urban areas into large-scale interactive boards. The format attracts thousands of tourists and boosts the local economy during the festival days. The commemorative edition in the Asian metropolis represents the largest investment in server infrastructure and urban mapping ever made by the company responsible for the title.

The mobile app uses satellite location data to position virtual creatures in the real environment through the smartphone camera. The integration between physical space and the digital environment requires complex logistical planning by local authorities. The metropolitan government works together with the organization to ensure safety and fluid traffic in areas with the highest concentration of players.

Captura from Zeraora and battles against Mega Mewtwo X and Y

The release of the mythical Pokémon Zeraora is exclusive to users who purchase access to the physical park. Players need to complete a series of specific missions, called Pesquisa Especial, to enable an encounter with the electric creature. The mechanics require constant physical movement between points of interest mapped at the event location. The tracking system monitors each participant’s individual progress in real time.

The festival also incorporates the Super Mega Raid system, which consists of high-difficulty cooperative battles. Trainers present in the city must join forces in virtual groups to defeat the bosses Mega Mewtwo The activity demands coordination between users and the use of advanced combat strategies.

As Batalhas of Reide with the presence of Mewtwo will be active in virtual gyms spread across all Tóquio neighborhoods during the four official days of the event. The organization also confirmed the distribution of a special version of the Pikachu character. The franchise’s mascot will appear equipped with an Boné Místico. Esta cosmetic variant will only be available in the geographic coordinates delimiting the festival area.

Expansão of City Gameplay and urban exploration routes

The City Gameplay mode reaches its largest historical coverage area by encompassing the entire Tóquio metropolitan region, with the exception of island territories. The developer implements the City Exploration Ticket pass for the first time. The digital ticket is aimed exclusively at interactions on the city’s streets. The document has no connection with activities restricted to the main park.

The event structure offers three GO Stamp Rallies circuits from May 25th. Exploration routes require participants to visit specific locations to register presence digitally on the company’s servers. The districts selected to host stamp collecting activities are:

  • Minato
  • Koto
  • Shinagawa

Accumulating virtual stamps at designated PokéStops unlocks the appearance of creatures with personalized backgrounds. The capture images display tourist attractions in the three districts. The visual variation occurs depending on the number of registrations completed by the user in the application. The stamp mechanic remains accessible to the general public regardless of purchasing paid festival tickets.

Estrutura physics and installations on Parque Costeiro of Odaiba

The main base of the in-person event focuses on Parque Costeiro of Odaiba, extending across delimited areas of Minato, Koto and Shinagawa. The space features service stands, charging points for mobile devices and temporary decorations based on the franchise’s universe. Logistics planning provides for strict flow control. The measure aims to avoid overcrowding at the main entrances and ensure the comfort of participants.

The Tokyo Waterfront Subcenter complex hosts the musical show Pikachu Ondo in GO Fest, held around a central tower set up for the occasion. The location also has the Pokegenic space. The area is dedicated to photographic scenes with themed elements built on a real scale. Physical activities include dance stages and temporary exhibitions aimed at collectors of the brand’s items.

The organization structured the environment to receive visitors who do not have the application installed on their devices. The common areas offer guided tours around the city and points of physical interaction that do not require the use of smartphones. The inclusion strategy aims to integrate the lay public into the tenth anniversary festivities. The hybrid event model consolidates the brand’s transition into the outdoor entertainment sector.

Ativações in augmented reality and ticket sales

Augmented reality technology is highlighted with the installation of interactive photo booths in the Toranomon Hills and Roppongi Hills commercial complexes. Ilha Shinagawa hosts an art exhibition focused on rare loading screens from the game. In partnership with the Tokyo Green Biz project, the organization distributes Pikachu sun visors. The free accessories will be available in four parks in the metropolitan region.

Local businesses participate in the festival through a promotional campaign integrated into the geolocation system. Registered establishments provide exclusive event stickers to customers. The gift requires the presentation of the Pokémon GO screen active on the devices during payment for purchases. The action encourages direct consumption in stores in the districts involved in the official program.

Full tickets, which guarantee simultaneous access to the physical park and the city’s bonuses, are sold out on the official platform. Users can also purchase City Exploration Tickets passes, valid for one day of urban activities. The digital document costs 3,000 yen. The sale of remaining entries remains active on the developer Niantic’s sales website until virtual stocks close.
