TST 7v7 starts this Wednesday (27) at Cary, at Estados Unidos, bringing together 76 teams competing for US$ 3 million (around R$ 15 million) in prizes. The 7-on-7 futsal tournament is one of the most prestigious in the world and brings together renowned names in international football. Douglas Costa, Pepe Reina and Radja Nainggolan are among the main attractions of the competition that takes place over 6 days, with the finals scheduled for Monday (June 1).
The competition will feature 2,000 athletes from 27 countries distributed among 48 men’s, 16 women’s and 12 mixed teams. Serão played 159 matches in total. Cada champion will receive US$1 million (approximately R$5 million).
Atletas with Copa’s resume from Mundo
In total, 13 registered athletes have already competed in at least one edition of Copa and Mundo. Entre they are Douglas Costa (Brasil), aged 35, Pepe Reina (Espanha), Landon Donovan (Estados Unidos), Miguel Layún (México), Sammir (Croácia) and Maynor Figueroa (Honduras). The squad also includes historic names in women’s football, such as Hope Solo, Heather O’Reilly, Jessica McDonald, Allie Long and Cat Whitehall, all world champions with the Estados Unidos.
Fora of the four lines, other stars will have administrative and technical roles. Sergio Aguero is the owner and coach of KRU FC. Gerard Piqué, creator of Kings League, leads the Kings League All Star project. Carli Lloyd, two-time Olympic and world champion for the American team, will be a technical assistant for US Women, the winning team of the first two editions of the tournament.
Kings League All-Stars Featured
Time of Estrelas of Kings League represents one of the main attractions of the competition. The squad brings together the biggest global highlights from the league created by Piqué, with 16 players from different countries. Entre they are the Brazilians Kelvin Oliveira, Andreas Vaz and Cristhian Canhoto. Kelvin Oliveira was TST 7v7 champion in 2023 by Newtown Pride and elected the best player of that edition.
Kings League All Star is positioned in Grupo C alongside KRU FC, City Soccer and Dark Horse. The team will make its debut this Wednesday at 12pm (Brasília time) against City Soccer. Posteriormente, at 7:45 pm on the same day, faces KRU FC. On Thursday, at 5pm, he will compete against Dark Horse. The top two in each group, in addition to the 12 best third-placed teams, advance to the knockout stages.
Representantes by Kings League Brasil
Equipes linked to Kings League Brasil will also be present at the tournament. Podpah Funkbol, led by Igão and MC Hariel, will participate in the competition. Furia, chaired by Neymar and Cris Guedes, is also in contention with a mixed formation between athletes from the main team and DesimpaiN, champion of Split 2 of Kings League Brasil. Sete players from DesimpaiN are part of the squad that traveled to Estados Unidos.
Traditional Clubes in fut7 format
Traditional Instituições from world football will be represented in versions adapted for fut7. Villarreal, Cagliari, América of México, Orlando Pirates, NC Courage and Wrexham participate in the dispute. Cagliari will have the presence of the Belgian Radja Nainggolan in its squad.
The US Women works as a kind of alternative team for the Estados Unidos, bringing together some of the main stars in the history of women’s football in the country. The team has already won the first two editions of TST 7v7 and is now looking for its third championship.
