Nintendo held this Tuesday (9) an edition of Nintendo Direct, right after the Summer Game Fest, focusing on news for the Nintendo Switch and especially for the Switch 2, which is approaching its first full year on the market. The presentation brought expected confirmations, such as the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and advances in third-party franchises.

The biggest highlight was the announcement of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a 1998 Nintendo 64 classic, rebuilt for the Switch 2 and scheduled for 2026. The title, which revolutionized 3D adventure games, returns with an updated look, maintaining the time travel mechanics and Link’s journey against Ganondorf.

Kingdom Hearts 4 also received a new trailer during the event, confirming its presence on Switch 2. The sequel to Square Enix’s action RPG series, which mixes Disney characters with Final Fantasy elements, reappears after a long hiatus and reinforces support for Nintendo’s new console.

Rhythm Heaven Groove arrives on the original Switch in July

Direct opened with Rhythm Heaven Groove, a new game in the rhythm franchise for the Nintendo Switch. The title features more than 80 musical minigames with cartoonish visuals and challenges that require precision on the buttons to the beat. Among the stages shown are a frog jumping to the rhythm and battles with heroes synchronized to the soundtrack. The launch is scheduled for July 2nd.

Capcom confirms Onimusha and Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on Switch 2

Capcom had a strong presence. Onimusha: The Way of the Sword got a trailer with new gameplay adapted to the Switch 2 hardware, including optimized controls. The game arrives on September 25th, with digital pre-orders already available.

Then, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen was confirmed as an expanded edition for the Switch 2, with additional content and performance improvements. The action RPG arrives on October 9th.

Stellar Blade, Orbitals and other exclusives or cross-platform

Stellar Blade, a hack and slash action game from Shift Up, was announced for the Switch 2 in 2026. The title places the character Eve in frantic combat against creatures in a post-apocalyptic scenario.

Orbitals, a new cooperative exclusive for up to two players on Switch 2, mixes platform, rhythm and creative challenges, with split-screen multiplayer and GameShare support. The launch takes place on September 3rd.

Rayman Legends Retold, Ubisoft’s remake with a renewed look and local multiplayer, arrives on Switch 2 on October 1st. Big Walk, an independent production with cooperative exploration and proximity chat, has a date for August 4th.

One Piece: Grand Gourmet and indie support

One Piece fans received One Piece: Grand Gourmet, a game that puts the player in the role of Sanji managing a restaurant and preparing dishes across the Grand Line. Nintendo also gave space to independent productions, reinforcing the Switch 2 ecosystem.

What changes in practice:With these announcements, Nintendo accelerates the Switch 2 catalog, combining remakes of classics, long-awaited sequels and optimized third-party games. This helps maintain the console’s momentum in its first full year, offering options for different audiences — from nostalgics to fans of cooperative action — and differentiating itself from competitors with a focus on portability and accessible multiplayer.
