After a 2025 marked by early elimination in the group stage of the World Cup in the Philippines, the men’s volleyball team returns to official competitions in the Brasília stage of the Nations League. The team faces Iran this Wednesday (10), at 8pm (Brasília time), at the Nilson Nelson gym, broadcast on sportv2 and ge tv, as well as real-time monitoring on ge.globo.

For the opening match, Bernardinho called up the setters Brasília and Cachopa, the opposites Bryan and Darlan, the pointers Adriano, Arthur Bento, Douglas Souza, Honorato and Lucarelli, the central players Flávio, Judson and Matheus Pinta, in addition to the liberos Maique and Pureza. This will be Brasília’s first opportunity to play at home in the Nations League, defending Brazil.

“It’s going to be very special, I don’t think I can measure it yet. Only the emotion on the court, when the game starts, will make the penny drop. It’s the realization of a dream for a boy who left Brasília, started to take his first steps in volleyball and reached the Brazilian team. Then you see that it was all worth it. First time playing at Nilson Nelson too. I had the opportunity to play on big stages of Brazilian volleyball, but there’s still a check in this home gym”, said the setter.

The two teams have already faced each other seven times in different phases and editions of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League, with Brazil winning each time. In general, the Brazilian team won the last five games and lost just one set to the Iranians. In total, there are 14 consecutive victories over Iran in official competitions. Last Sunday, the teams played a friendly match in Brasília, and Brazil won by 3 sets to 2.
