Brazilian tennis player Luisa Stefani, currently number seven in the world in the WTA doubles rankings, started her career in competitions played on grass courts in a positive way. In her first match at the Queen’s WTA 500, based in the city of London, England, the athlete from São Paulo worked in partnership with Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and overcame the partnership made up of Japanese Miyu Kato and Russian Liudmila Samsonova by a score of 2 sets to 0, with splits of 6/3 and 6/2.
The Brazilian athlete is going through the most successful period of her professional career to date, accumulating impressive results in the two main tournaments of the 2026 season held previously. The competitor reached the semifinal stage at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros, in addition to winning the WTA 500 trophy in Strasbourg, a performance that led her to reach seventh position in the international rankings.
Next challenge and preparation for the Grand Slam
In the next phase of the event in British territory, on a date and schedule to be confirmed by the organization, the Brazilian’s partnership will measure forces against North Americans Iva Jovic and McCartney Kessler, players who occupy intermediate positions on the women’s professional circuit.
The championship held at the Queen’s Club marks the opening of the calendar of preparatory competitions for the tournaments played on grass. At the end of June, the athletes will compete in the Wimbledon tournament, which represents the third Grand Slam on the annual calendar and is one of the most prestigious competitions in the history of tennis, a competition where the Brazilian’s most notable performances were reaching the quarterfinals in the 2023 and 2025 editions.
