The expectation for the Brazilian team’s debut in a World Cup remains intense, but the main ingredient has been mystery. This Thursday (11), at the training center in Morristown, in the United States, coach Carlo Ancelotti chose not to give any indication about the team that will face Morocco, next Saturday, in New Jersey.

During the fifteen minutes in which the press had access to the training, the commander divided the players into three groups for an exercise on a reduced field. The activity focused on a quick exchange of passes, with the third team entering the field whenever possession of the ball was lost, increasing the dynamics and competitive demands.

Even though the pace of activities was intense, it was not possible to draw definitive conclusions about the initial lineup. Ancelotti, known for his strategic approach to major tournaments, maintained a low profile, mixing the players up so as not to reveal their true intentions for the opening match, a tactic that could destabilize the opponent.

The greatest uncertainties persist in the full-back positions. The coach has been testing different options for the defensive flanks since the beginning of the preparation. On Tuesday, defender Ibañez was seen improvised on the sidelines, while on Wednesday, Danilo stood out as one of the favorites to start as a starter.

On the left side, Alex Sandro emerges as the likely choice to start the game against the Moroccans. However, Douglas Santos remains in contention for the position. The Zenit player has attributes considered valuable for a clash that will require great physical preparation and strong support from the corridors.

Update on Neymar’s recovery and status

While the coach dedicates himself to adjusting the team’s final details, Neymar remains away from activities on the field. The number 10 was not seen on the pitch during the period open to journalists, remaining under the care of the Brazilian team’s physical and physiotherapy department.

However, progress in his recovery process continues to show positive signs. On Wednesday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released images of the striker carrying out an activation session in the gym alongside the other athletes. In one of the records, Neymar appeared exchanging passes and demonstrating good movement with the ball, a good omen for his rehabilitation.

Brazil’s likely formation for the start of the World Cup should feature Alisson in goal; Danilo (or Ibañez) and Alex Sandro (or Douglas Santos) on the sides, with Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães in defense; Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães and Lucas Paquetá in midfield; and Vini Jr., Matheus Cunha and Raphinha in attack.

Until kick-off at MetLife Stadium, however, Ancelotti appears determined to keep the information under wraps. In a tournament like the World Cup, tactical secrecy is a crucial tool of the game.
