Apple released an official list of more than 250 new features and refinements for its operating systems during WWDC 2026. The updates cover iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27, with beta versions now available to developers.

Many of the highlights involve practical improvements in users’ daily lives. In iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, it will be possible to switch between two iPhones with the same phone number simply. Other changes include smoother transitions between Wi-Fi and cellular networks, Live Activities on Dynamic Island in landscape mode, and extra-large widgets.

Performance and interface improvements

Apple prioritized fluidity and energy efficiency. Safari on iOS becomes more efficient, Voice Control responds faster, and scrolling through the App Library becomes smoother. On iPadOS, you can close windows faster, navigate faster in the Files app, and resize iPhone apps.

iPad users will also get an optional persistent menu bar, app names in the status bar, and faster window switching. Lock Screen remains active when scrolling notifications, and Personal Hotspot uses less power on supported devices.

Features for communication and accessibility

New features include a dual camera on FaceTime, smoother camera switching when zooming in on a video, and improvements in pairing Made for iPhone hearing aids. There is also expanded touch support in Sidecar, independent alarm volumes and proactive car key configuration.

The complete list ranges from more fluid scrolling in Control Center to faster and more reliable NFC scanning. These changes aim to make daily use more agile, especially in repetitive tasks.

What changes in practice for users

These accumulated refinements represent a leap in usability. Instead of large isolated features, Apple bet on hundreds of adjustments that reduce friction in everyday life — such as faster transfers and interfaces that respond better. The betas already released allow developers to test the new features before the final launch scheduled for September
