David Harbor broke his silence on reports alleging a complaint of harassment and bullying made by Millie Bobby Brown during the filming ofStranger Things. In an interview with Variety, the actor compared the situation to a normal family fight after ten years of working together.
The star, who played Sheriff Jim Hopper, the adoptive father of Millie’s Eleven, said arguments happen naturally in long productions. “It’s a show that ran for ten years. I worked with Millie for ten years, in her formative years as a teenager, playing father and daughter,” he said. He acknowledged that, in families, people fight and then make up, but in a billion-dollar production “hundreds of people want to get involved.”
Internal investigation resolved
According to sources, there was a complaint and an internal investigation before filming began on the final season. The case was closed after direct conversation between those involved, without further consequences. Harbor described the episode as a “simple break and repair” that was resolved once they “got everyone out of the way and talked.”
Millie Bobby Brown also spoke to Variety via email. She highlighted the evolution of their relationship over the seasons: “Over time, our relationship has become much more creatively collaborative. Even though the series is over, there is a lot of gratitude. Sharing this experience for so many years is something I will always remember and cherish.”
“Weird” timing and future together
Harbor found it “strange” when the Daily Mail report came to light, in the same week that his ex-wife Lily Allen released the albumWest End Girl. He admitted that the period was challenging for his mental health, but reinforced their mutual affection: “We adore each other and have always adored each other.” The actor also added that he and Millie are working on “several” projects together, as “ten years were not enough”.
The relationship between the two was publicly seen as positive on the red carpet at the final season premiere, with hugs and smiles that helped dispel rumors.
What does this reveal about long productions
Cases like this are not uncommon in series that span a decade, especially when they involve young actors in intense roles. The father-daughter dynamic between Hopper and Eleven required emotionally heavy scenes, which can generate friction, but also deep bonds. The amicable outcome shows that the cast managed to preserve the working environment and focus on concluding the story, which marked the end of one of Netflix’s biggest franchises.
