Google released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 for compatible Pixel devices this Wednesday. The update arrives just a few weeks after the release of the previous version and focuses mainly on bug fixes reported by users and testers of the beta program.
The update includes the May 2026 security patch and resolves several issues that affected the daily experience. Among the most relevant fixes are the invisibility of the mouse pointer on external monitors when work profiles or applications with FLAG_SECURE were active, crashes in the Settings app when accessing credential providers in Private Space and the coupling of the screenshot sound to the ringer volume.
Another important improvement fixes frame skipping and jitter when recording videos at 5x zoom while panning. Back Tap gestures that didn’t work on the interactive lock screen were also fixed, as was a graphics driver regression that hurt 3D performance in OpenGL ES applications on newer hardware.
Improvements in connectivity and screen recording
The update also resolves connection failures in Wireless ADB and in applications that depend on the local network. Users report that Beta 4 brings greater overall stability, especially in multitasking scenarios and use with external accessories.
One practical addition highlighted in the update is support for the front camera (selfie) during screen recording. The feature makes it easy to create tutorials, reaction videos, and app demos, keeping the user visible while capturing the device’s screen. There is also a new dedicated keyboard tile in Quick Settings, which allows faster access to typing adjustments.

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 is available for most recent Pixels. The builds are:
