Samsung is developing a series of innovations for the future One UI 9, which include everything from a new method for activating the Bixby assistant to the implementation of transparency effects in several applications. Recently, a new feature was identified during testing with the QuickStar module, part of the Good Lock suite, that will allow users to actively monitor the speed of their network connection.
This new feature consists of an internet speed indicator, configurable through the “Icon Indicators” options within QuickStar. Although the Good Lock module already offers the ability to add and remove system icons in the status bar, this specific network monitoring option is not present in the One UI 8.5 version. This situation, however, will change with the arrival of One UI 9.0.
Once activated, the system will display numbers indicating download and upload speeds, positioned directly next to the mobile data and Wi-Fi signal icons, at the top right of the screen. This valuable addition eliminates the need to install third-party applications to check whether the connection is leveraging its maximum capacity when sending or receiving files from the cloud.
Additionally, the next version of QuickStar for One UI 9.0 will make it possible to disable the visual element of live notifications. These notifications display real-time information, such as alarms, countdown timers and details of currently playing media, however, they commonly take up considerable space in the notification bar, which can now be managed by the user for a cleaner experience.
It is important to highlight that both QuickStar and Good Lock are offered free of charge and can be downloaded directly from the Galaxy Store on all compatible Samsung cell phones.
