The United States soccer team has written a new chapter in its World Cup journey. For the first time in its history, the team managed to find the net four times in a single match at the world tournament.

This remarkable feat was achieved during the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, in a clash against Costa Rica. On that occasion, the North Americans dominated the game and secured an impressive 4-0 victory over Los Ticos.

The goals that sealed this historic milestone were scored by Clint Dempsey, who converted a penalty, Jermaine Jones, Julian Green and Bobby Wood.

In addition to recording the most goals in a single game, the 4-0 victory represented the USA team’s biggest win in all of its World Cup appearances.

Before this result in 2014, the record for the biggest victory belonged to the 3-0 score over Belgium, established in the first edition of the World Cup, in 1930. Overcoming a mark that had lasted for more than eight decades highlights the importance and historical dimension of the American team’s performance in Brazil.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team played with confidence and defeated Paraguay’s strong resistance 4-1.
