Resident Evil Veronica quickly reached a significant milestone, captivating over a million players to their wishlists shortly after its reveal during Summer Game Fest. The expectation surrounding Capcom’s new title has grown exponentially.

The trajectory of the Resident Evil saga, since the release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica in 2000, has been marked by a series of transformations in its narrative line. Recent reimaginings of classic games have brought changes and new arrangements to the chronology, and events in “Resident Evil Requiem” also helped expand the plot’s universe.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the project, guaranteed that the new version of Veronica will incorporate these changes, seeking to establish an even more harmonious and connected narrative between the different chapters of the franchise.

In a statement given to the Famitsu portal, Hirabayashi explained the team’s purpose: “Our goal with Resident Evil Veronica is to restructure the plot in such a way that participants feel, unequivocally, that all games belong to a single, coherent series.”

However, the producer highlighted that maintaining fans’ emotional connection with the original game remains a central concern for developers.

He added that Capcom’s philosophy for development is to prioritize the players’ experience. “For the development team, the essence is to put the players’ experiences and memories at the forefront and, from there, build the new version of the game”, he concluded.

As for gameplay, the title will offer a completely third-person perspective, reminiscent of the dynamics seen in Resident Evil 2 Remake, with the renowned camera positioned above the character’s shoulder.
