Google recently announced the launch of “Study Notebooks,” a new learning feature integrated into its Gemini conversational artificial intelligence platform. Available for free in its web version and in all languages, the resource was released globally and has the ability to generate questionnaires and adaptive classes, personalized according to each student’s individual progress. Specific content for standardized exams, such as the SAT, will be gradually incorporated starting in the northern hemisphere summer.

Within the Gemini app, “Study Notebooks” set up a dedicated, interactive learning environment. Students can upload their own study materials, such as course syllabuses, personal notes and textbooks, so that artificial intelligence can analyze the content. Based on this analysis, the system creates a diagnostic questionnaire that assesses understanding of the material. Based on the results, the AI identifies gaps in knowledge and offers personalized mini-lessons to reinforce specific points, including practical exercises based on the documents sent. Students can still pause classes at any time to ask the AI direct questions.

The platform also stands out for its advanced learning progress management features. The system organizes educational objectives into more than a hundred items, presenting a panel that categorizes them into “Strengths”, “Focus Areas” and “Not Started”. This panel is continuously updated after each test taken by the student, automatically recommending the most appropriate lesson for the next study session, ensuring an optimized learning trajectory.

Plans are underway to expand the content collection, covering highly relevant standardized tests. Support for official SAT prep material from The Princeton Review will be added, as well as support for key national exams such as the ACT, GRE, JEE, and NEET in India, as well as ENEM in Brazil, with implementations scheduled for the summer. These functionalities will also be integrated into the existing “NotebookLM”, allowing users to create flashcards and video summaries from their study materials.

The feature is currently accessible on the web version of Gemini for users with personal Google accounts, in all available languages. Implementation for school management accounts, intended for students under 18, is expected in the coming weeks. For mobile users, full support for Android and iOS apps is scheduled for late summer 2026.
