The woman who is the mother of the two girls, aged 3 and 5, found dead in the capital of São Paulo, informed the police that she was being persecuted and threatened by her ex-husband, Breno de Souza Castro, aged 24. The situation of fear had lasted since the couple’s separation, which occurred in March, after a relationship of approximately eight years that resulted in the birth of the children.
The end of the union was motivated by successive episodes of physical aggression and infidelity. Although the violence had never been formally reported, the lack of registration did not prevent the escalation of abusive behavior, with Breno intensifying the persecution and threats after the end of the marriage.

On August 8, 2026, the mother left her daughters with her ex-mother-in-law, who regularly took care of the children on weekends. To avoid any contact with Breno, the delivery meeting was always held at an intermediate point, as his father lived on the upper floor of his mother’s house.
The next day, August 9, 2026, shortly after the mother posted a photo with friends, Breno sent a message stating that she would no longer see her daughters. He had already picked up the children, claiming he would take them to visit the Ipiranga Museum.
A few hours later, a relative asked Breno about the delay in returning home. According to the statement given to the police, he responded that the children would not be seen again and that he planned to take their lives and, subsequently, his own.
The victims’ mother returned to her ex-mother-in-law’s residence, where she remained overnight supported by relatives, while the search for Breno and the children was underway.

On the morning of August 9, 2026, Breno handed himself in at the 48th Police District, located in Cidade Dutra, and confessed to having murdered his daughters, according to information from the Military Police.
Police authorities went to the location provided by Breno, where they located the bodies of the two girls inside a vehicle, on Rua Luiz Supertti, in the Jardim Guanabara neighborhood, in the South Zone of the capital of São Paulo.
The police report indicated that the cause of the children’s deaths was asphyxiation. The investigation indicates that the motivation for the crime would be the father’s jealousy towards his ex-partner.
Breno was arrested for murder and domestic violence, and the case was formally registered at the 101st Police District, located in Jardim das Imbuias.
