Motorola recently started releasing Android 17 in beta for its Edge 50 Ultra smartphone. The first news about the firmware being tested came from a user in India, signaling the beginning of the evaluation of Google’s latest operating system on the company’s top-of-the-line device. This distribution is done progressively, reaching those who signed up for the Motorola Feedback Network (MFN) program.

The version under development has the identification A171UVH.42 and requires a considerable download of 5.24 GB. The expressive size of the package suggests a profound change in the structure of the operating system. In addition to the new Android platform, the update includes the latest security patch, corresponding to the month of August, which corrects flaws and weaknesses in the device’s software.

Although the images released by the user do not present a detailed history of the changes made by the manufacturer, the new version of the system is expected to bring the essential features created by Google to Android 17.

Among the expected features are new bubbles to switch between applications quickly, a screen recorder with advanced audio options and new clock layouts for the lock screen. The notification panel and Control Center will also receive aesthetic improvements, along with a unique volume control and smoother movements in the interface.

Motorola continues its approach of offering an experience similar to “pure” Android, using the Hello UI interface. This strategy avoids the accumulation of features and drastic changes that are often found in systems from other brands, such as Xiaomi and OPPO.

Due to the gradual nature of the rollout among MFN members, it is possible that the update notification may not appear simultaneously for all eligible devices. The final and stable version of Android 17 is expected to be available to all Edge 50 Ultra owners in the following months, depending on the progress of the testing stage.

Users who have pre-registered can check software availability in their device’s settings menu. Given the characteristic of being a beta version, which may present faults, it is highly advisable to carry out a complete backup of all smartphone data before starting the installation process.
