Pix down: widespread failure prevents transactions in various banks; Banco do Brasil, Santander and PicPay confirmed the difficulties

Users of various financial institutions reported Pix failures on the afternoon of this Thursday (30), in São Paulo and other regions of the country. The problem prevented instant transfers and payments around 3 pm.

Banco do Brasil, Santander and PicPay confirmed the difficulties on their social networks.

  • Main complaints include errors in transfers (61%).
  • Blocked payments represent 30% of reports.
  • App failures add up to 9%.

Santander reported partial instability in the application during the afternoon. The technical team worked to normalize the service in minutes.

PicPay and Banco do Brasil recorded similar reports of slowness in operations.

Monitoring platform registered a peak of notifications at 4 pm.

More than 2,500 complaints were recorded in one hour.

Users from capitals like Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte also reported errors.

Institutions work to restore operations

Itaú and Nubank advised customers to wait a few minutes before new attempts. The banks activated contingency protocols to process pending transactions.

Transactions debited without credit to the recipient occurred in isolated cases, but were resolved automatically after stabilization.

Reports detail types of error

Common errors include:

  • “Pix rejected by the recipient’s PSP”.
  • “Try again later” messages.
  • Failure to generate QR Code.

These problems arose in the late afternoon, coinciding with higher payment traffic.

Recent history of system failures

Pix faced similar interruptions on October 20, linked to an AWS failure. On that occasion, transfers were affected for 30 minutes in apps like Mercado Pago.

In September, the Central Bank resolved instability in the key mechanism in less than an hour.
