The complete reveal of the ninth generation of the Nissan Sentra marks a strategic step in the Japanese automaker’s renewal strategy. The midsize sedan, which arrives in North American dealerships at the end of 2025, features visual changes that abandon the previous conservatism in favor of more aggressive and modern lines. Made in Mexico, the model is already being tested in Brazil, signaling a possible arrival here in 2026.

Narrow full LED headlights dominate the front, integrating with the redesigned V-Motion grille, while vertical appendages at the ends add a dynamic touch. The side gains pronounced creases and wheel options from 16 to 18 inches, with chrome finishing on the upper windows in some configurations.

  • Extended dimensions: length of 4.65 meters, width of 1.82 meters and height of 1.44 meters.
  • Wheelwheel maintained at 2.71 meters to preserve internal space.
  • Two-tone paint options on the roof for sporty versions.

These adjustments aim to attract a younger audience, competing directly with rivals such as the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic.

The rear adopts LED lights joined by a glossy black bar, partially extending across the trunk.mpa of the trunk. In the SR variant, a discreet spoiler reinforces the sporty appeal, aligning the Sentra with the trend of sedans with coupe features.

Refreshed look elevates dynamic appeal

The exterior design of the 2026 Sentra reflects the evolution of Nissan’s visual identity, inspired by recent models such as the Murano and the electric N6 and N7. The front grille, now smaller in the base versions, visually expands in the SR with a black mask that simulates a wide air intake, creating the illusion of greater presence on the asphalt. This feature, common in sporty configurations, helps the sedan stand out in a segment dominated by SUVs.

Tapered lines on the body give a fastback profile, reducing aerodynamic drag without compromising practicality. The length increased by nine millimeters compared to the predecessor allows for greater stability in curves, while the preserved width facilitates urban maneuvers. Preliminary tests indicate that the drag coefficient has dropped to 0.28, improving consumption on highways.

The choice of wheels of varying diameters caters to different buyer profiles: the 16-inch wheels prioritize comfort in cities, while the 18-inch wheels, exclusive to the SL, emphasize sportiness with low-profile tires.

  • Headlights with inverted “L” signature for better nighttime visibility.
  • Taillights with 64 individual LEDs for durability.
  • Functional spoiler on the SR that increases downforce by 5% at 120 km/h.

These elements combine aestheticand functionality, positioning the Sentra as an affordable option for those looking for sophistication without excess.

Minimalist interior integrates dual screens

The Sentra 2026 cabin adopts a horizontal layout, with a redesigned panel to house two 12.3-inch screens side by side – one for digital instruments and the other for multimedia. This configuration, inherited from the brand’s SUVs, eliminates unnecessary buttons and centralizes tactile controls, facilitating interaction while driving. The electronic parking brake replaces the old pedal, freeing up floor space and modernizing operation.

High-quality synthetic materials cover surfaces, with synthetic leather options on the heated front seats on SV trims and above. Ambient lighting offers 64 customizable tones, creating personalized atmosphere for nighttime travel. Physical controls for volume, alerts and 360-degree camera remain on the center console, balancing touch and precision.

Space for five occupants increases slightly, with 425 liters of trunk – 15 more than the previous model – thanks to the optimization of the multi-link rear suspension. Ground clearance set at 2.5 millimeters for the US market can be raised in Brazil to deal with urban potholes.

  • 7-inch panel in S version for value for money.
  • Wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on SR and SL.
  • Optional induction charger and electric sunroof.

These updates transform the interior into an intuitive cockpit, prioritizing ergonomics for daily drivers.

A notable innovation is the eight-speaker Bose sound system, available on the SL, which uses algorithms to adjust audio to external noise. Seats with eight-way electrical adjustments for the driver integrate position memory, making it easier for families to share the vehicle.

Security features advance with ProPILOT

The Sentra 2026 incorporates the Safety Shield 360 package as standard on all versions, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. Lane keep assist uses cameras for subtle steering corrections, while blind spot warning monitors rear cross traffic. Automatic high beams switch between modes to avoid glare from oncoming vehicles.

In the SL, ProPILOT Assist raises the level of autonomy, managing acceleration, braking and steering in traffic jams via radar and sonar. With 10 airbags – front, side, curtain and knee for driver and passenger – the sedan achieves five stars in NHTSA crash tests. The torsional rigidity of the body increased by 6%, absorbing impacts with less deformation.

  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
  • Speed sign reader that adjusts cruise control.
  • 360 degree camera with washable view by water jets.

These systems, calibrated for real scenarios, reducefatigue on long journeys and increase confidence on busy highways.

Rear traffic monitoring activates audible and visual alerts, integrating with the rearview mirror. Over-the-air updates to security software ensure continuous evolution without workshop visits.

Mechanics prioritize comfort over performance

Under the hood, the 2026 Sentra maintains the 2.0 naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with direct injection, producing 151 horsepower and 20.1 kgfm of torque. Coupled to the recalibrated CVT Xtronic, the package delivers linear acceleration, with zero to 100 km/h in around 9 seconds. The new Sport mode, starting from SV, raises revs for more agile responses, simulating eight gears.

Adjustments to the shock absorber valves smooth out irregularities, while a damper on the steering wheel filters vibrations from the asphalt. Reductions in body gaps cut aerodynamic noise by 3 decibels, making the interior quieter at 120 km/h. Front-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes complete the package, with ABS and stability control.

  • Estimated consumption: 12 km/l in the city and 15 km/l on the highway with gasoline.
  • Rear multi-link suspension for stability when cornering.
  • Electric steering with three modes: Eco, Standard and Sport.

Although there is no turbo, the focus on efficiency suits buyers who value savings in mixed use.

The CVT receives improved lubrication for durability of 200 thousand kilometers, and the enginer meets Euro 6 emissions standards without extra catalytic converters.

Versions balance cost and luxury

The lineup starts with the S, equipped with 16-inch wheels, manual air conditioning and a 7-inch screen. The SV adds a face-to-face key, heated seats and a 12.3-inch dashboard. The SR, with a youthful appeal, features 18-inch wheels, spoiler and black grille, while the SL tops off with Bose, sunroof and full ProPILOT.

Prices in the US start at US$20,000, around R$106,000 in direct conversion, maintaining accessibility. In Brazil, expectations of R$ 175 thousand at the base, competing with Corolla and Civic.

  • S: Focus on essentials, with six airbags and basic multimedia.
  • SV: Adds comfort with dual-zone and wireless charger.
  • SR: Sporty style, including paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
  • SL: Luxury with 10 airbags and premium sound.

Each tier builds on the previous one, allowing customization without drastic leaps.

The distribution of versions reflects regional demands: more sporty in the USA, more equipped in Mexico and Brazil.

Preparation for the Brazilian market

Camouflaged prototypes have been circulating in São Paulo since March, testing local adaptations such as raised suspension for speed bumps. Imported from Mexico, the Sentra must maintain the 2.0 flex, with ethanol for extra torque on climbs. Nissan plans production of5 thousand units annually initially, aiming for 2% market share in medium sedans.

  • Tests in Buritis and Interlagos validate urban handling.
  • Adaptation for Proconve L8 with particle filters.
  • Five-year warranty on main mechanics.

These preparations ensure readiness for launch in mid-2026, in line with the line’s renewal cycle.

The dealership network receives training to highlight the new design, with campaigns focused on urban families.
