Novak Djokovic, current number 5 in the world, faces German Yannick Hanfmann in the semifinals of the ATP 250 in Athens this Friday, November 7, 2025. The confrontation takes place on the central court of the OAKA Basketball Arena, in Greece, starting at 12pm Brasília time, equivalent to 5pm local time. Djokovic is seeking his 101st title on the ATP Tour, while Hanfmann, coming from qualifying, is aiming for his first final at a major tournament.

The Serb advanced with straight sets victories over Alejandro Tabilo and Nuno Borges. Hanfmann, in turn, overcame five opponents, including Marcos Giron in the quarterfinals.

The match marks the third meeting between the two tennis players.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head 2-0.

Djokovic’s trajectory in the tournament

The Serb entered directly into the main draw and demonstrated consistency in the initial rounds. Against Tabilo, in the round of 16, he won 7-6(3) and 6-1, converting two break points and hitting 78% of his first serves. In the next game, against Borges, the score was 7-6(1) and 6-4, with 36 winners in one hour and 45 minutes of play.

This run represents Djokovic’s sixth consecutive semi-final since Roland Garros. He has not lost sets in Athens so far.

The 38-year-old tennis player uses the event to gain momentum ahead of the ATP Finals in Turin.

Hanfmann’s surprising performance

Yannick Hanfmann, 33 years old and 117th in the rankings, went through qualifying and played five matches. He defeated Lukas Klein 6-2 6-4, Alex Molcan 7-6(2) 6-3, Ivan Ivanov 6-4 6-2, Vit Kopriva 6-2 5-7 7-5, and Giron 7-6(3) 6-4.

The German scored 70 points against Giron and broke serve once in the second set. His record on indoor clay is 11 wins in 13 games this season.

Hanfmann seeks to return to the top 100 and secure a direct place at the Australian Open.

This campaign brings his record on the year to 45-26.

Head-to-head history

The two met for the first time in 2023, with Djokovic winning in straight sets. The second duel took place in October 2025, at the Shanghai Masters 1000, where Hanfmann took the first set 6-4, but lost the following 7-5 and 6-3.

Djokovic converted 4 of 7 break points in that match. None of the games were indoors.

The German respects his opponent, but highlights his evolution on serve.
