YouTube launches Recap 2025 as a personalized summary of views and directly rivals Spotify Wrapped

YouTube has launched Recap 2025, a feature that offers a personalized, shareable summary of users’ viewing history throughout the year.

The functionality, available from December 2nd, initially arrives at América from Norte and expands globally throughout the week. Ela highlights favorite channels, main interests and even a personality type based on consumption habits.

Users access Recap from the home page or the “You” tab, both on the mobile and desktop apps.

  • The resource includes up to 12 interactive cards with evolutions of tastes and explored moments.
  • For those who consume music, it displays most listened to artists and tracks, with YouTube integration Music for additional details.

What Recap offers users

Recap transforms viewership data into a personalized narrative about the viewer’s year.

The platform developed the feature after frequent user requests and rounds of testing with feedback. Ele identifies profiles as Aventureiro, Construtor of Habilidades or Espírito Criativo.

The most common types include Iluminador, Buscador, Maravilhas, and Conector. Personalidades rare encompasses Filósofo and Sonhador.

The focus remains on overall video history, unlike the music-only Recap of previous years.

How to access and share the summary

Users find Recap directly on the YouTube home page or in the “You” tab.

The resource appears as a highlighted banner as soon as it is available in the account. On desktop, you can also access it via youtube.com/recap.

The content generates animated cards that can be shared on social networks.

  • You just need to have enough viewing history to generate the summary.
  • Supervised or child accounts do not receive the functionality.
