As of January 2026, the INSS retirement transition rules will undergo adjustments provided for in Reforma of Previdência of 2019. Essas changes directly affect workers who already contributed before November of that year and seek the benefit with less stringent requirements than the permanent rule.

The main changes involve an increase of six months in the progressive minimum age and one point in the sum required by the point system. The minimum contribution time remains the same in both affected modalities.

Policyholders can choose the most advantageous rule among those available, considering the moment of granting and the value of the benefit.

  • Progressive minimum age for women: 59 years and 6 months.
  • Minimum progressive age for men: 64 years and 6 months.
  • Minimum score for women: 93 points.
  • Minimum score for men: 103 points.

General rule maintains fixed requirements

The permanent retirement rule remains unchanged in 2026. Mulheres must be 62 years old and have contributed 15 years to claim the benefit.

Men must reach 65 years of age and have 20 years of contributions. Essa modalidade vale para quem ingressou no sistema previdenciário após a reforma ou opta por ela.

Progressive minimum age transition

In this modality, the minimum age increases by six months each year until reaching the final level in 2031. In 2026, women must be at least 59 years and 6 months old, in addition to 30 years of contribution.

Men need to reach 64 years and 6 months, with 35 years of contribution. Progression ensures gradual adaptation to new demands.

This rule benefits those who are close to the requirements and prefer to wait for a moderate increase in age rather than paying additional tolls.

Point system gains extra requirement

The points system adds age and contribution time, with an annual increase of one point in the minimum score. In 2026, women need 93 points, maintaining the minimum 30 years of contribution.

Men require 103 points, with 35 years of contribution. Essa modality allows retirement without a fixed minimum age, as long as the sum is reached.

Many policyholders use this rule when age compensates for insufficient contribution time for other transitions.

50% toll remains stable

The 50% toll rule will not change in 2026.

The worker serves half of the time remaining at the time, in addition to a minimum age of 57 for women and 60 for men. The benefit calculation follows the average of all contributions.

This option is usually advantageous for those who were very close to retirement before retirement.

100% toll offers full calculation

Another fixed modality is the 100% toll, which requires full completion of the missing time in 2019. The minimum age is set at 57 years for women and 60 years for men.

The main advantage lies in the value of the benefit, calculated based on the 80% largest contributions, discarding the smallest. Muitos opt for this rule when seeking higher monthly income.

This transition remains available without changing requirements for 2026.

Other transition modalities available

In addition to the main rules, there are specific options for teachers, workers in special activities and people with disabilities. Essas categories have their own progression tables and adapted tolls.

Basic education teachers, for example, have a five-year reduction in their age and contribution time. Requirements vary depending on the period of INSS membership.

Planning makes choosing the rule easier

Policyholders must evaluate all options before requesting the benefit. The INSS provides a free online simulator that projects the remaining time according to each rule.

Experts recommend checking the complete contribution record at Meu INSS to avoid surprises. Atualizações contained in the system helps to monitor employment relationships and individual payments.

Practical requirements simulation

A common example involves a 59-year-old woman with 31 years of contributions in 2026.

A 64-year-old man with 36 years of contributions evaluates whether the sum reaches 103 points or would he prefer to wait another six months for another modality. Individual Casos require detailed analysis.

These calculations guide the decision on the ideal time to apply for retirement.

Access to the INSS simulator

The Meu INSS portal offers a simulation tool accessible via computer or application. The user enters personal data and the system presents projections for all applicable rules.

The result includes probable grant date and estimated value. Embora does not guarantee the right, it serves as a reliable basis for planning.

Preparation of essential documents

Before applying, organize proof of contribution, such as work cards and paid vouchers. Documentos identification and residence are also mandatory in the application.

The process takes place entirely online, without the need for an initial in-person appointment. Automatic analysis speeds up many grants.

Annual evolution of transitions

The changes follow a defined schedule until 2033 in some modalities. The progression of the minimum age for women ends in 2031, reaching 62 years of age.

The points system continues to increase up to 100 for women in 2033 and fixed at 105 for men from 2023. Acompanhar annual updates avoid outdated planning.
