Omoda & Jaecoo, which represents the premium division of the Chery group, officially expanded its portfolio at Brasil with the confirmation of the arrival of two new models. The Jaecoo 5 and Jaecoo 8 SUVs are scheduled to arrive on the national market in 2026, intensifying competition in the compact and large utility vehicle segments, respectively. The brand’s strategy is ambitious, aiming to consolidate its presence and be among the ten best-selling automakers in the country by the end of the launch year.
The company’s focus is on plug-in hybrid technology, which will equip both vehicles. The engine, called Super Hybrid System (SHS-H), combines a combustion engine with one or more electric motors, seeking to offer a balance between high performance, reduced fuel consumption and lower pollutant emissions. Este movement is aligned with the growing demand for electrified vehicles in the Brazilian market and reinforces Jaecoo’s commitment to innovation.
To support the launch and projected growth, the automaker is also planning a robust expansion of its dealership network. The objective is to surpass the mark of 100 units in operation by the end of 2026, guaranteeing coverage of approximately 90% of the national territory. Essa expansion is essential to ensure not only sales, but also a qualified and accessible after-sales service for the brand’s future customers.

The compact Jaecoo 5 and its urban proposal
The Jaecoo 5 was designed to compete in the fierce compact SUV segment, measuring 4.38 meters in length and positioning itself as a direct rival to established models such as the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen T-Cross and Chevrolet Tracker. Seu mechanical assembly consists of a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, which works in conjunction with a front electric motor. The combined power exceeds 200 horsepower, promising agile performance for everyday use in cities. The CVT transmission has been calibrated to provide smooth gear changes and optimize energy efficiency.
In terms of equipment, the model is well suited to attract consumers looking for technology and comfort. The list of standard items includes a multimedia center with a 13.2-inch screen, panoramic sunroof and induction cell phone charger. Além In addition, the Jaecoo 5 incorporates a level 2.5 driving assistant package, which encompasses features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Launch prices are expected to be below R$150,000, making it a competitive option in the market.
Jaecoo 8, the seven-seater, high-performance giant
Aimed at larger families and those looking for an imposing vehicle, the Jaecoo 8 stands out for its generous dimensions. Measuring 4.82 meters long, 1.93 meters wide and with a wheelbase of 2.82 meters, the SUV offers ample interior space and will be available in six or seven seat configurations. The trunk has a capacity of 738 liters with the third row of seats folded down, a volume that can be expanded to more than 2 thousand liters. Its plug-in hybrid system is even more sophisticated, using the same 1.5 turbo engine, but associated with two electric motors, one positioned on each axle, which guarantees all-wheel drive on demand. The combined power of the set exceeds the 500 horsepower mark, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.7 seconds. The battery, with more than 30 kWh of capacity, supports different driving modes, including off-road and sport options, adapting the vehicle to different terrain and use conditions. The interior reflects its premium proposal, with two 12.3-inch screens that integrate the instrument panel and the multimedia system, as well as 5G connectivity and remote updates (over-the-air). The finish uses high quality materials, such as synthetic leather and metallic details, in a minimalist and functional design. The initial price is expected to start at R$250,000, putting it in competition with models such as the Jeep Commander and the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
The technology of the Super Hybrid System system
The Super Hybrid System (SHS-H) system is the heart of the electrification strategy from Jaecoo to Brasil. Essa technology was developed to optimize collaboration between the combustion engine and electric motors, allowing the vehicle to operate fully electric, hybrid or with just the gasoline engine, depending on power demand and battery charge level. The range in pure electric mode can reach 79 kilometers, similar to that already offered in the Jaecoo 7.
This ability to run without emitting pollutants on short journeys is one of the main attractions of the system, as it allows the driver to carry out daily journeys, such as going to work, without wasting fuel. The battery can be recharged at residential sockets or at quick charging stations, where it is possible to recover 80% of the charge in around 30 minutes, offering practicality and versatility to the user.
National expansion and production plans
The initial success of the Jaecoo 7, which has recorded consistent sales since its launch, serves as a strong impetus for the brand’s new plans. The goal of becoming one of the ten largest automakers in the country is supported by significant investment in infrastructure and marketing.
The expansion of the dealership network is a central pillar of this strategy. The company plans to open new stores in strategic capitals in the Nordeste and Centro-West regions, in addition to reinforcing its presence in the Sudeste, ensuring that customers have easy access to sales and services.
At the same time, Omoda & Jaecoo is advancing negotiations for the installation of a factory in Brasil. Diversos locations are under review, including Itatiaia (RJ), Iracemápolis (SP) and Jacareí (SP). The planned investment for the industrial plant exceeds R$2 billion, with the expectation of generating around 2,000 direct jobs.
Local production, expected to begin in mid-2026, will allow the brand to reduce logistical costs, avoid exchange rate volatility and benefit from tax incentives. Além In addition, the nationalization of components, such as braking and suspension systems, will strengthen the local supply chain and adapt vehicles to Brazilian taste and road conditions.
Design and interior finish of the new models
Design is one of the strong points of the new SUVs. The Jaecoo 5 has a robust look, with straight lines, an imposing front grille and square-shaped LED headlights, reminiscent of luxury utility vehicles. The 18-inch wheels and good entry and exit angles reinforce its ability to tackle poorly maintained urban roads.
The Jaecoo 8 opts for a more sophisticated and imposing style, in keeping with its family proposal. The elongated roof and rear lights interconnected by an LED bar create a modern and elegant visual signature. The interior of both models was designed with a focus on comfort and technology.
The internal space is generous, and the finish uses good quality, soft-touch materials. In the case of the Jaecoo 8, the six-seater version with “captain” seats in the second row raises the level of comfort for passengers. Recursos as well as dedicated air conditioning outlets for the rear seats and multiple storage compartments were designed to ensure everyday practicality.
Positioning and competition in the market
The Jaecoo 5 enters one of the most competitive categories of the Brasil, but arrives with solid arguments. Seu plug-in hybrid system differentiates it from most direct competitors, which only offer combustion engines or mild hybrid systems. With an estimated average consumption of 15 km/l in the mixed cycle, it promises to be more economical, while power exceeding 200 hp guarantees superior performance.
In turn, the Jaecoo 8 directly challenges the Jeep Commander and Toyota SW4, offering a combination of space, luxury and electrified performance. Standard all-wheel drive and extended electric range are important competitive advantages. The eight-year warranty for the hybrid system’s battery is also a factor that may attract consumers concerned about long-term maintenance costs.
Investing in structured after-sales
Aware that consumer trust is crucial to the success of a new brand, Jaecoo is investing heavily in structuring its after-sales service. The company is assembling a large stock of spare parts in the country to ensure that inspections and any repairs are carried out quickly, avoiding long waiting periods. Além In addition, an intensive training program is being applied to the dealerships’ technical teams to ensure qualified and standardized service across the entire network.
