Stoic Studio, in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, has officially set the release date for version 1.0 of Towerborne. The action-RPG game will arrive on February 26, 2026, ending its early access period with a series of improvements and new content. The main surprise of the announcement was the confirmation that the title will be available simultaneously not only for Xbox Series X|S and PC, but also for the PlayStation 5.
This platform expansion represents a significant strategic shift, expanding the game’s reach to a new player base. The transition to the full version also marks the completion of the main narrative and the implementation of features highly requested by the community, such as support for offline matches. Players who participated in the testing phase will be able to maintain their progression, although the developers recommend starting a new journey to experience all the new features.
The business model has also changed. Inicialmente designed as a free-to-play title, Towerborne will be released as a premium game, with standard and deluxe editions available for purchase. Esta decision eliminates the need for microtransactions and a constant internet connection, focusing on offering a complete experience from the start.

Multiplatform strategy and connectivity
The arrival of Towerborne on PlayStation 5 on the day of its global launch is a notable move by Xbox Game Studios, reinforcing a growing trend of flexibility in the distribution of its titles. Essa approach aims to maximize the game’s reach, allowing communities from different consoles to interact without barriers. The decision to include the Sony console from day one demonstrates the studio’s confidence in the project’s potential to attract a diverse and engaged audience across different ecosystems.
To ensure a unified experience, the game will feature full cross-play and cross-progression functionality across all platforms. Isso means that a player on PS5 will be able to form a squad with friends on Xbox or PC without any hindrance. Additionally, progress saved on one platform can be continued on another, offering unprecedented flexibility for users who own more than one gaming system.
What’s new in version 1.0
The update to the final version of Towerborne introduces a substantial amount of new content, starting with the completion of the main campaign. Players will finally be able to face the story’s great villain in an epic battle that ends the main narrative arc, in addition to having access to new missions that expand the game’s universe.
The world map has been completely transformed, with the addition of a new zone and a new biome to explore. Essas areas bring with them new types of encounters and challenges, increasing the variety of combat and encouraging exploration. The hunt board has also been remodeled to be more dynamic and rewarding.
Two new bosses have been added to the roster of adversaries, including the campaign’s final antagonist. Essas battles are designed to test players’ skills and require well-coordinated strategies, significantly enriching end-game content.
To cater to all player profiles, the difficulty system has been completely redone. Além of the already known levels, the Brutal mode was introduced, an extreme challenge for those looking to test their limits and obtain the best rewards.
Combat mechanics and equipment
Customization is one of the pillars of Towerborne, and version 1.0 deepens this aspect even further. The Forge system allows players to modify their equipment in detail, adjusting attributes and skills to create unique builds. Novas abilities for the Aces, the game’s immortal warriors, have been implemented, expanding the range of strategies available. The title maintains its essence of side-scrolling action with brawler and RPG elements, where collecting loot is essential for progression. Combat is fluid and requires coordination, especially in cooperative mode for up to four players, where synergy between classes is crucial to overcoming the most difficult challenges. The update also brings new gear items in various rarities, updated abilities for all Aces classes, and additional cosmetics for complete visual customization, encouraging replayability and constant experimentation. Stoic Studio has made extensive fixes based on community feedback to ensure a polished and balanced experience.
Change in game model
The decision to abandon the free-to-play format and adopt a premium model was one of the highlights of the announcement. With this change, Towerborne becomes a one-time purchase product, guaranteeing access to all content without the presence of microtransactions or the need to always be connected to the internet.
Offline support is an important addition, allowing players to enjoy the campaign solo without relying on a network connection. At the same time, online co-op for up to four participants remains one of the main features, now with a potentially larger player base thanks to the expansion for PS5.
The standard edition will be priced at approximately $25, while the deluxe edition, which includes extra cosmetic items, will be available for a slightly higher price. Ambas versions grant access to the full experience and all future balance updates.
Development details
Developed by Stoic Studio, acclaimed for the The Banner Saga trilogy, Towerborne has evolved considerably since its announcement.
