Announced with a starting price of 1,299 euros for the European market, the equivalent of approximately R$7,743 in direct conversion on the launch date, the Mix Flip does not yet have a confirmed date to officially reach the Brasil. The company’s global strategy focuses on markets in the Europa and Ásia, where it seeks to consolidate its presence in the premium device category.

Technical specifications and performance

The heart of the Xiaomi Mix Flip is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which ensures robust performance for multitasking, gaming and heavy applications. The chipset works together with options of 12 GB or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and internal storage that varies from 256 GB to 1 TB in the UFS 4.0 standard, ensuring high speed in reading and writing data. The internal screen is a 6.86-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2912 x 1224 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, which provides fluid images and vibrant colors, in addition to supporting technologies such as Dolby Vision and HDR. Maximum brightness of 3,000 nits makes it easy to view in direct sunlight. Já the external screen, also AMOLED, is 4.01 inches, one of the largest in the category, allowing the use of complete applications and quick access to notifications without having to open the device.

Device design and construction

The design of the Mix Flip combines elegance with high-quality materials, using frosted glass for the rear finish and an aluminum structure. Quando opened, the smartphone is just 7.6 mm thick, and closed, it measures 15.99 mm, with a total weight of 192 grams. The reinforced steel hinge was designed to withstand up to 500,000 opening and closing cycles, ensuring the durability of the mechanism.

The Xiaomi offers the device in colors such as black and purple, as well as a special edition with a nylon fiber finish. A point of attention is the absence of a water and dust resistance certification, such as the IPX8 present in direct competitors, which requires greater care from the user in humid or dusty environments.

Camera system in partnership with Leica

One of the main attractions of Mix Flip is its photographic set. The partnership with Leica resulted in a dual camera system at the rear, consisting of a 50 MP main sensor, the Light Fusion 800, with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS).

The second sensor also has 50 MP and acts as a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, ideal for portraits and close-up photos without loss of quality. The front camera, located on the internal screen, has 32 MP for selfies and video calls.

Despite the quality of the main sensors, the device does not have an ultra-wide lens, a notable absence compared to other high-end devices. On the other hand, the camera software offers Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look modes, which allow you to customize the style of images, in addition to recording videos in resolution up to 8K at 24 frames per second.

Battery and charging technology

Battery life is an important differentiator of the Xiaomi Mix Flip. The device is powered by a 4,780 mAh cell, a significantly larger capacity than that found in many of its direct competitors, promising a full day of intense use without difficulties. The device supports 67W fast wired charging, capable of completely recharging the battery in a short time. However, the smartphone does not support wireless charging, a common feature in devices in this price range.

HyperOS software and AI capabilities

The Mix Flip runs the Android 14 operating system under the Xiaomi’s HyperOS interface. Essa personalization is known for offering diverse customization options and integrating advanced artificial intelligence features.

AI features include Circle to Search, developed in partnership with Google, which allows you to search from any image on the screen, and photo editing tools, such as AI Magic Erase Pro, to remove unwanted objects.

The company also promises four major updates to the Android system and five years of security updates, which guarantees good software longevity for the device.

Despite the positive points, the HyperOS interface is criticized in some markets for the inclusion of pre-installed applications (bloatware) and the display of advertisements on the system, which can negatively affect the user experience for some consumers.

State-of-the-art connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mix Flip is equipped with the latest technologies. The device supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 networks, ensuring fast and stable connections. Para optimize signal reception, the Xiaomi included the Surge T1 Tuner chip, which uses artificial intelligence to manage antenna switching and reduce latency.

The smartphone also features NFC for contactless payments, support for Dual SIM (two chips) and Miracast technology for screen mirroring on compatible devices, offering a complete set of connection options for the modern user.

Availability and market strategy

The global rollout of the Xiaomi Mix Flip began in September 2024, with an initial focus on European and Asian markets. The price of 1,299 euros for the entry-level version positions it competitively, although still in the premium segment. Na China, prices are considerably lower, starting at 5,999 yuan (about R$4,800).

To date, Xiaomi has not released official plans for the commercialization of Mix Flip into Brasil. Consumidores of the country who wish to purchase the device will need to resort to importers, subject to customs fees and the lack of warranty and local technical support.
