Volkswagen has made the arrival schedule official for its latest project developed at Brasil, setting May 25, 2025 as the start date for sales. Produzido at the Taubaté factory, inside São Paulo, the model appears as a strategic bet by the German automaker to strengthen its presence in the entry-level sports utility vehicle category. The vehicle was designed to occupy a competitive market segment, positioning itself just below the Nivus and the T-Cross in the brand’s portfolio.

The development of the car involved more than three years of intense research and engineering tests, aiming to balance production costs with an attractive value package for the consumer. With around 80% of its components nationalized, the strategy aims to protect the final price against exchange rate fluctuations, allowing aggressive commercial offers from launch. The expectation is that the model will replace the space left by the Gol, attracting hatchback owners who want to migrate to the higher category.

Pricing and versioning strategy

To face direct competitors such as the Fiat Pulse and the Renault Kardian, the automaker has defined a range of prices that should start at approximately R$95 thousand in entry-level versions and reach around R$150 thousand in the most complete configurations. Essa pricing strategy was designed to capture a wide range of consumers, from those looking for their first SUV to customers demanding greater refinement and technology.

The line will be made up of five different configurations, differentiated by engine and equipment level. The entry-level version, called Tera MPI, focuses on cost-benefit with an aspirated engine and manual transmission. Logo above, the Tera 170TSI option introduces the turbo engine, maintaining the manual transmission to attract those who prioritize control when driving. The intermediate and top versions, such as the Tera Comfort and Tera High, combine the turbo engine with automatic transmission, offering greater urban comfort.

A special launch edition, called Tera High Outfit The Town, has also been confirmed. The Esta configuration will bring exclusive finishes and a different look, with a roof, pillars and mirrors painted in black, as well as darkened 17-inch alloy wheels. The objective is to create a striking visual identity that highlights the model on the streets in the first few months of sales.

Technical specifications and engine

Under the hood, the sports utility vehicle uses mechanical sets already consolidated in the manufacturer’s national line. Access versions are equipped with a 1.0 MPI three-cylinder engine, capable of generating up to 84 horsepower when fueled with ethanol and 77 horsepower with gasoline. The maximum torque is 10.3 kgfm, managed by a five-speed manual gearbox, ideal for everyday use in urban areas.

For those looking for greater performance, the higher configurations adopt the 1.0 TSI turbo engine. Este engine delivers 116 horsepower and a more robust torque of 16.8 kgfm, available at low speeds. The transmission can be a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, depending on the version chosen. Traction control is present on all variants, ensuring the vehicle’s safety and energy efficiency.

The suspension received a specific calibration for Brazilian driving conditions, increasing the ground clearance to 189 mm. Essa feature allows you to overcome speed bumps, ditches and asphalt imperfections more easily, without compromising stability when cornering. The braking system uses discs on all four wheels in the top-of-the-line version, ensuring efficient braking even in emergency situations.

Design and internal dimensions

Visually, the car adopts the brand’s new global design language, inspired by larger models such as the Tiguan and the Taos. The front features an LED optical assembly integrated into an imposing front grille, giving it a modern and robust appearance. The front bumper has functional air intakes and appliqués that reinforce the vehicle’s sense of width.

On the sides, the waist lines are well defined, with wheels that vary between 15 and 17 inches depending on the version. The roof rack is not just aesthetic, it is functional for transporting additional loads. At the rear, the LED lights are linked by a glossy black bar, creating a light signature that increases visibility and safety during night driving.

In terms of dimensions, the model measures 4.13 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 2.56 meters, measurements close to those of the Polo. However, the use of internal space was optimized, resulting in a trunk with a capacity of 350 liters, greater than that of the hatchback and suitable for the needs of small families.

Embedded technology and connectivity

The interior was designed to be one of the most technological in its category. The instrument panel is fully digital, with a customizable 10.25-inch screen that displays driving information. Next to it, the 10.1-inch VW Play multimedia center offers wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as native applications and internet access via 4G.

In terms of security, the package is comprehensive from the basic version onwards. Todos the models leave the factory with six airbags, front, side and curtain, as well as electronic stability control and hill start assistant. More expensive versions add semi-autonomous driving features such as adaptive cruise control (ACC) and autonomous emergency braking, raising the standard for active safety in the segment.

Convenience was also prioritized with the inclusion of automatic digital air conditioning, induction cell phone charger and in-person key with push-button start. The multifunctional steering wheel has shift paddles in the automatic version, providing a sportier drive when necessary. The interior finish mixes textures and materials, with vinyl and fabric upholstery options in the most sophisticated configurations.

With practicality in mind, the model offers four USB type C ports distributed throughout the cabin, ensuring fast device charging for all occupants. The ambient LED lighting creates a welcoming atmosphere at night, while the front and rear parking sensors, combined with the reversing camera, make maneuvering in tight spaces easier.
