The strategy of Toyota’s luxury division is undergoing a significant restructuring of its sports car portfolio this year. Informações Recent reports from the Japanese automotive sector indicate that the brand is developing an unprecedented model to simultaneously replace the LC and RC lines, unifying the premium coupe segment into a single high-performance and comfortable vehicle.

This move aims to simplify the manufacturer’s offer, filling the gap left by the end of RC production, which occurred in 2025, and the gradual discontinuation of the current LC. The new project aims to deliver a legitimate “Grand Tourer”, focused on long journeys with sophistication, differentiating itself from models purely focused on the track.

The development of the vehicle occurs in parallel with the next generation of the Toyota GR Supra, which suggests strategic platform sharing. However, the Lexus seeks to guarantee its own identity, moving away from the engine expected for the “brother” of the Toyota and investing in a mechanical package that prioritizes refinement and energy efficiency.

Technical details and exclusive engine

Although the basic architecture is shared with the sporty future of the Toyota, the engine will be the biggest differentiator of this new coupe. The Enquanto and the Supra must maintain four and six-cylinder turbo options, the Lexus model will adopt a robust hybrid system.

The heart of the vehicle will be a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine, coupled with a high-efficiency electrical system. Esta hybrid configuration aims to offer:

  • Linear and immediate torque delivery, an essential feature for luxury cars;
  • Silence on board and superior driving comfort at cruising speeds;
  • Optimized fuel efficiency to meet stringent global emissions standards;
  • Clear differentiation in performance compared to the main brand’s turbo models.

In terms of dimensions, the car should grow to better accommodate the occupants, with an estimated length of around 4.8 meters and a width of close to 1.9 meters. The suspension will be calibrated to offer a balance between cornering stability and shock absorption, maintaining the brand’s tradition of comfort.

The possible return of the SC emblem

With the merger of the LC and RC lines, there is strong speculation about the rebirth of an iconic name in the automaker’s history: the Lexus SC. Produzido originally between 1991 and 2010, the SC was instrumental in establishing the brand’s reputation in the luxury coupe segment, especially in the North American market.

The return of the nomenclature would make marketing sense, evoking enthusiasts’ nostalgia and positioning the car exactly as a spiritual successor to the original SC: an elegant, powerful and technologically advanced vehicle. The design must follow the company’s most recent visual language, with fluid lines and an imposing front grille, but without the extreme aggressiveness reserved for models in the “F” division.

Market positioning and launch

The new coupe should not be confused with the successor to the legendary LFA. Enquanto to

Production is scheduled to take place in the Japanese factories of Toyota, guaranteeing the standard of construction quality required by customers in the premium segment. The global launch is expected for 2027, with the vehicle arriving to compete directly with German rivals that are also undergoing hybridization processes in their sports lines.
