Playground Games presented new inclusion tools during the Xbox Developer_Direct event, held on January 22nd. The studio confirmed that the long-awaited racing title, set in Japão, will hit the market on May 19 for Xbox Series X|S consoles and computers, bringing specific innovations aimed at players with visual and motor disabilities.
New navigation and visualization tools
The highlight of the presentation was Modo of Alto Contraste, a feature designed to facilitate the identification of critical elements in the scenario. The feature allows the environment to be desaturated, while essential objects, such as the player’s car, opponents and track limits, receive vibrant colors and defined contours. Essa customization aims to help people with low vision navigate the complex open world without losing spatial reference.

Another significant addition is the Radar of Proximidade, which provides a circular visual indicator on the screen to monitor traffic around the vehicle. The system uses color codes ranging from green to red to alert you to the distance to other cars in real time, preventing accidental collisions during competitions or free exploration.
In addition to the visual innovations, the studio detailed how AutoDrive works and other assistance:
- AutoDrive: system that automatically guides the vehicle along the GPS route in exploration mode.
- Brake and Steering Assist: Features inherited and enhanced from Forza Horizon 5.
- Subtitles and narration: Full support for menus and interface interactions.
Details about launch and platforms
Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to debut on May 19, 2026, spanning the Microsoft ecosystem via Windows and Steam. The developer also confirmed that a version for PlayStation 5 will be made available later this year, expanding the reach of the title to different communities of players.
The game promises to deliver the largest map ever created for the franchise, recreating several regions of Japão with cultural and geographic fidelity. Cross-play support will be active from day one, allowing users from different platforms to participate in events and races together at the Horizon festival.
Development and inclusion context
The implementation of these technologies reflects a growing movement in the video games industry to make digital experiences more accessible. Playground Games has collaborated with consulting groups and gamers with disabilities to refine the mechanics, ensuring that customization options meet real-world usage needs.
Although the official broadcast received occasional criticism for the lack of accessibility features in Brazilian Portuguese during the live event, Microsoft reinforced its commitment to inclusion within the software. The expectation is that future updates will continue to expand the range of tools available, based on community feedback after the global launch.
