Samsung has started distributing the second beta version of the One UI 8.5 aimed at the Galaxy S25 line, focusing on significant improvements for image and video capture. The software package prioritizes the restoration of popular tools that had been removed in previous tests, meeting a growing demand from the user community for greater versatility in visual content production. The update seeks to balance the casual user experience with the demands of photographers and videographers who use smartphones as a work tool.
Return of Essential Video Tools
Single Take and Dual Record modes return to the operating system, allowing creators to capture dynamic moments with greater creative and technical freedom. The South Korean manufacturer’s decision not to integrate these functions directly into the native camera application, opting to allocate them in the Camera Assistant module. Essa strategy aims to keep the main interface clean and accessible for the average user, while offering technical depth for enthusiasts through companion apps.
The change reflects an effort to balance the simplicity of the software with the need for advanced customization required by mobile photographers.
Access via Good Lock ensures that only those who really need these specific features have the menu expanded, avoiding visual pollution on the standard shooting screen. Essa modularity has been a recurring bet by the company to differentiate its top-of-the-line smartphones in the competitive smartphone market, allowing the robust hardware of the Galaxy S25 to be explored to the fullest without intimidating lay users.
Release schedule and global reach
The official calendar points to the software becoming available from December 22, 2025, initially covering strategic markets such as Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, Alemanha and Coreia from Sul. Expansion to other regions, including Índia and Polônia, is expected to occur in subsequent weeks, allowing a global consumer base to test the new features before the stable release reaches all supported devices.
The expectation is that the feedback collected at this stage will be crucial for final adjustments to the stability and performance of the imaging hardware.
Technical improvements in image capture
The Dual Record mode allows simultaneous recording with the rear and front lenses, ideal for vlogs and real-time reactions, using the device’s processing to generate high-quality files. Já o Single Take uses artificial intelligence to capture several photos and short videos in a single shot, automatically selecting the best moments for the user.
Users can now save their preferred settings as presets within the app, making it easy to quickly switch between different shooting styles without the need for constant manual readjustments. Integration with the Quick Share feature has also been optimized, speeding up the transfer of large files between devices in the Galaxy ecosystem for later editing on larger screens.
