WhatsApp has started implementing a new design for message bubbles on Android, with rounder corners and a smoother appearance, in the latest beta version of the app. The change, identified in update 2.26.10.2, affects the look of individual conversations and groups, making bubbles uniformly rounded compared to the previous angular format. Selected Usuários betas already access the feature via Google Play Store, with gradual rollout in specific regions. The objective is to offer a more modern, clean and fluid interface for millions of messenger users.

The redesign impacts all chat bubbles, including text messages, polls, events, and media files. Imagens and videos now adopt the full bubble format, without traditional frames, which better integrates multimedia content into the conversation flow. Essa change reduces the perception of heavy visual elements on the screen and improves the overall aesthetics of the application.

Visual changes to message bubbles

The increase in radius at the corners of the bubbles represents the main novelty. Antes, the design featured straighter and more defined edges, which gave conversations a more rigid appearance. Agora, the pill-shaped format provides softness and modernity to the layout.

This uniformity applies regardless of the type of content sent. Textos, stickers or documents maintain the same rounded style, creating visual consistency throughout the conversation thread.

Exceptions in the new layout

Messages received in groups continue to have a small highlight at the top of the bubble to identify the sender. The name of the author or group indicator appears in this preserved space, making it easier to read in collective chats.

Forwarded content also maintains this exception. An excerpt from the top bubble displays information about the origin of the message, avoiding confusion about the origin of the shared content.

Multimedia integration

Images and videos stand out when they take on the shape of a rounded bubble without extra edges. Essa approach makes multimedia content blend naturally into the conversation design, improving the experience when viewing galleries or playing files directly in chat.

The new style contributes to more intuitive navigation in threads with many visual elements. Usuários report a cleaner feeling on the interface, especially during long conversations or with frequent exchange of photos and videos.

Availability and rollout

The feature only appears for beta testers enrolled in the Google Play program. The release occurs progressively, starting in selected regions and expanding as stability tests progress.

Beta updates like this set the stage for future stable releases. Common Usuários must wait for the official rollout, which typically arrives weeks after refinements in the test pipeline.

Impact on user experience

The more rounded design aligns WhatsApp with current trends in mobile interfaces, prioritizing smoothness and minimalism. The change exclusively affects Android in the initial phase, without immediate confirmation for iOS.

Conversations maintain full functionality, with all sending, receiving and interaction features preserved. The change focuses purely on the visual aspect, with no impact on performance or privacy.

WhatsApp continues to evolve its interface to meet modern usability preferences. Recursos betas like this emerge frequently, allowing for early feedback from the testing community.
