The restaurant chain Katsuya launches, from March 13, 2026, the Ultra Egg Katsudon and the Ultra Egg Cutlet Set Meal in limited edition. The main dish brings together breaded and fried pork loin chop, pork char siu, bacon, sausage and fried egg over seasoned rice. The new product caters to customers looking for meals with a high protein content and intense flavors. The menu is available in Japão stores while supplies last.

The combination mixes classic elements of Japanese katsudon with Western breakfast influences. The result is a voluminous dish, with contrasting textures and an eye-catching presentation.

Ultra Egg Katsudon highlights four sources of protein

The Ultra Egg Katsudon features breaded pork loin, slices of roasted char siu, crispy bacon and bologna sausage. A fried egg is placed on top, allowing the yolk to be incorporated into the rice and other ingredients when eating. The seasoning maintains tradition with sweet and sour soy sauce and black pepper, creating balance between the intense flavors of the meats.

The chain positions the item as an option for days of greater hunger or need for extra energy. The simplicity of the sauce prevents the dish from becoming cloying even with the volume of ingredients.

Main characteristics of the dish and combo

  • Includes breaded and fried pork loin chop
  • Contains char siu, bacon and sausage as additional proteins
  • Fried egg on top to mix with rice base
  • Sweet and sour soy sauce with black pepper
  • Price starts from 979 yen (980 yen in stores with ticket machines)

The Ultra Egg Cutlet Set Meal combo adds side dishes such as shredded cabbage and miso soup, with unlimited rice in several units. The cost is 1,089 yen (1,090 yen in stores with a ticket machine).

Travel versions maintain the same concept

Katsuya offers bentos with the same compositions for consumption outside the store. The Ultra Egg Katsudon Bento costs 961 yen (980 yen in stores with a ticket machine). Já or Ultra Egg Cutlet Bento costs 1,069 yen (1,090 yen in stores with a ticket machine). Todos prices include taxes and may vary slightly per unit.

Consumption tip for better use

The chain recommends cracking the fried egg and mixing it well with the rice and meat. Essa technique creates a creamy texture that envelops all components and enhances the contrast between the crispiness of the chop, the juiciness of the char siu and bacon, and the softness of the sausage.

Simple seasoning enhances the ingredients

The sweet and sour soy sauce follows the classic house recipe, with the addition of black pepper for a slight heat. The assembly prioritizes visual layers, keeping the egg intact until meal time to preserve the aesthetics of the dish.

Launch follows tradition of seasonal menus

Katsuya often introduces limited items with abundant combinations to attract new-look customers. Este Ultra Egg Katsudon follows this line and should remain on the menu indefinitely, depending on the availability of ingredients.

Dish meets demand for energetic meals

The emphasis on multiple proteins makes the item suitable for those who practice physical activities or seek more substantial options for lunch or dinner. The egg adds nutritional value without detracting from the Japanese style of traditional katsudon.

The network maintains units in different regions of the Japão, with opening hours that generally start in the morning and last until the evening, varying depending on location.
