American startup Tiiny AI presented the AI Pocket Lab, a compact artificial intelligence supercomputer that fits in your pocket and runs language models with 120 billion parameters completely locally. The device, approximately the size of a portable charger, does not depend on an internet connection or cloud servers to function. The device was certified by Guinness World Records as the smallest mini PC capable of processing AI models of this scale offline.

The launch took place during CES 2026 and gained immediate traction at Kickstarter, surpassing US$1 million in fundraising within hours of the campaign opening. The proposal attracted attention for offering capabilities equivalent to traditional supercomputers in a portable and affordable format. The focus on privacy and low latency differentiates the product from cloud-based solutions.

Device technical specifications

The AI Pocket Lab measures 14.2 cm x 8 cm x 2.53 cm and weighs around 300 grams. The main hardware includes a 12-core ARM processor of Armv9.2 architecture. The system features 80 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with 48 GB dedicated exclusively to the neural processing unit (NPU).

Internal storage reaches 1 TB on high-speed SSD. The combination of CPU and NPU delivers up to 190 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Energy consumption is around 65 W, allowing prolonged use on battery or direct connection to a socket.

Technologies that enable execution on compact hardware

Tiiny AI used several optimizations to run large models on a small device. The main one is TurboSparse, which selects only the parameters necessary for each specific task. Outra built-in solution is PowerInfer, which improves energy efficiency during inference.

  • TurboSparse reduces memory usage and speeds up calculations by up to 3 times
  • PowerInfer optimizes load distribution between CPU and NPU
  • Native support for more than 50 open-source models, including variants of Llama, Qwen and GLM
  • GPT-OSS 120B fluid execution at 20+ tokens per second

These technologies eliminate the need for aggressive compression that compromises the quality of results.

Practical applications and benefits for users

The device connects to any laptop or PC via USB-C and turns the equipment into a local AI station. Profissionais generate text, images and videos without sending data to remote servers. Offline operation guarantees complete privacy, especially useful for lawyers, doctors and researchers who deal with sensitive information.

Demonstrations show AI Pocket Lab running heavy models on old computers, including machines that are more than 14 years old. The device operates silently and without excessive heating under prolonged loads. Portability makes it easy to use when traveling or in places with limited connectivity.

Recognition and availability in the market

The Guinness World Records officially recognized the AI Pocket Lab as the smallest portable supercomputer for local execution of LLMs over 100 billion parameters. Tiiny AI, founded by MIT alumni, Stanford and professionals from companies such as Intel and Meta, developed both the hardware and the optimized software.

Retail price ranges between $1,399 and $1,500 depending on the configuration chosen. The first units will be delivered to Kickstarter supporters in the months following the end of the campaign. The product marks an advance in edge computing applied to artificial intelligence.
