New payment and security features on your wrist

Express Pay comes to Pixel Watch 2 and later to speed contactless transactions. Standalone earthquake alerts now on the watch

Models Pixel Watch 2 and above receive autonomous earthquake alerts right on their wrist. The notification operates without an active connection to the smartphone when the device is linked to Wi-Fi or LTE networks. The feature uses the same seismic detection infrastructure already present in cell phones Pixel, providing advance warning in regions with system coverage.

This capability represents an important advance for users in areas subject to seismic activity. The watch processes and displays the alert independently, ensuring that the information arrives even in situations where the phone is partially disconnected.

Forgotten cell phone notifications and automatic blocking

The Notify when left behind function warns when the user moves significantly away from the paired smartphone. The Pixel Watch 2 and newer models trigger the alert only after a substantial change in location, avoiding unnecessary notifications for short movements within the home, such as leaving the living room for the bedroom.

The system also allows the phone to automatically lock itself when the watch leaves range Bluetooth. Users activate both options in the Pixel Watch companion app, in section Preferências of the watch > Segurança. The combination reinforces protection against unauthorized access in cases of forgetfulness or loss.

Identity verification and one-handed gestures

Compatible Pixel Watch 3+ and Pixel 8 Pro+ devices use the watch to confirm identity checks on select services. Essa integration expands secure authentication options without relying exclusively on the smartphone.

One-handed gestures introduced in the Pixel Watch 4 are now available in the Pixel Watch 3. Usuários performs actions such as answering calls, pausing media or taking remote photos with simple wrist movements or double pinch, making it easier to use in situations where your hands are busy.

Expansion of SOS via satellite to more regions

Pixel Watch Satellite SOS now operates on Europa, Canadá, Porto Rico, Alasca and Havaí. Satellite emergency messaging functionality expands coverage beyond the mainland of Estados Unidos while maintaining the initial period two years at no additional cost after activation on compatible devices.

This expansion benefits travelers and residents in areas with limited cellular connectivity. The feature allows sending distress messages even without a mobile network signal or Wi-Fi, prioritizing critical situations.

How to update Pixel Watch LTE

LTE model users should periodically check the system updates section on their watch or via the app on their paired smartphone. Google recommends keeping your device with sufficient battery power and connected to Wi-Fi or LTE while downloading to avoid interruptions. The process follows the pattern of quarterly updates on line Pixel Watch.

The update brings security, convenience, and emergency feature improvements that strengthen the overall user experience. Older Modeloss in the line, such as the original Pixel Watch, are no longer supported by software updates.
