Irã decided to suspend indirect negotiations with Estados Unidos after new threats from President Donald Trump. The talks were taking place indirectly and have progressed favorably so far, according to reports in Iranian state media. The strike occurred after Trump published a message stating that an entire civilization could die tonight, in reference to the deadline for Estreito to reopen.

An Iranian government official told Reuters that the Estados Unidos seeks the surrender of the Irã through pressure from ongoing attacks. State newspaper Teheran Times confirmed that all communication had been suspended. The statements made by Trump occurred in a post on the network Truth Social this Tuesday.

  • The deadline imposed by Trump requires the complete reopening of Estreito from Ormuz by the equivalent US local time of 9pm on Brasília.
  • The maritime route accounts for around 20% of world oil exports.
  • Recent attacks have hit military targets in Ilha, Kharg and areas near Teerã.

Tensions escalate with ceasefire rejection

The Iranian government and Estados Unidos rejected a ceasefire plan proposed by mediators, including Paquistão. Trump indicated that without an acceptable agreement by the end of the deadline, Iranian bridges and power plants will be hit within hours. Ele said he was not concerned about possible war crime charges when attacking civilian targets, arguing that the real risk would be allowing leaders he considers radical to possess nuclear weapons.

In a press conference on Casa Branca, Trump mentioned the possibility of taking Iranian oil, but considered that American citizens prioritize ending the conflict. The Iranian Exército classified the threats as delusional and incapable of offsetting the Estados Unidos position in the region. The ultimatum has already been postponed four times since March 21.

Recent attacks cause victims in areas close to the capital

Bombings in the province of Alborz, near Teerã, resulted in at least 18 deaths and 24 injuries. The Iranian capital suffered a series of intense attacks, including on residential areas and the Khorramabad international airport. Prédios were destroyed in different parts of the city.

The Iranian minister of Patrimônio Cultural sent a letter to Unesco requesting condemnation of threats against the country’s railway system. The Trans-Iranian Railway, which connects Mar Cáspio to Golfo Pérsico, has world heritage status. Qualquer Aggression against it would represent damage to humanity’s heritage, according to the Iranian government.

Internal mobilization gains strength amid conflict

The Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian reinforced the speech of total mobilization among the population. Ele stated that 14 million people volunteered to die in the war and declared that he was ready to give his own life. Autoridades called on young people to form human chains around power plants in various regions of the country.

Cracks appear in Iranian dome

An Iranian summit meeting held on Saturday, April 4, ended with accusations from President Masoud Pezeshkian against Guarda Revolucionária. Ele criticized unilateral actions that hinder prospects for a ceasefire and accused commanders of fueling the escalation of the conflict through attacks on infrastructure in countries in the region.

Pezeshkian warned that these policies destroy any remaining chance for agreement and lead Irã toward a massive catastrophe. Ele assessed that the Iranian economy would not withstand a prolonged war under current conditions, with the risk of total collapse. The discussion involved influential figures close to Líder Supremo, including the commander-in-chief of Guarda Revolucionária Ahmad Vahidi and Ali Abdollahi.

Conflict continues with no immediate prospect of a truce

Iranian forces maintain a posture of resistance and prepare responses to possible new attacks. Autoridades reinforce that the country demands a definitive end to the war, and not just a temporary pause. Trump, in turn, mentioned the possibility of complete regime change, with less radicalized minds taking control.

The situation on Estreito of Ormuz remains blocked, which affects the global flow of oil. Ataques and counterattacks intensify in the hours before the end of the deadline imposed by Estados Unidos. The conflict enters a critical phase with hardened positions on both sides.
