Genshin Impact may finally be coming to the Nintendo ecosystem. Several well-known leakers from the gaming community claim that HoYoverse is preparing to announce the port for the Nintendo Switch 2, possibly during the Nintendo Direct scheduled for this Tuesday (9).
The rumor gained momentum with the recent addition of a Nintendo Account login manager to the game’s code. Dataminers have identified prompts to link HoYoverse accounts to the Nintendo profile, which indicates concrete preparations for a version of the open-world RPG on the new console.
2020 promise that never came true
HoYoverse announced Genshin Impact for Nintendo Switch in 2020, during a Direct. At the time, the game already ran on PC, PS4 and mobile, but the port for the 2017 hybrid console never came out. Experts point to technical limitations, such as insufficient RAM, as the main reason for the indefinite postponement.
With the Switch 2, which brings significant upgrades in processing, storage and performance, the scenario changes completely. The more powerful console resolves the bottlenecks that prevented the previous launch.
What leakers say
Users like genshinmains, Kuroo and HxG — considered reliable in Genshin leaks — have published evidence in the last few hours. One of them highlighted the addition of Nintendo login and mentioned the Direct that takes place in a few hours. Others corroborated the information, increasing the credibility of the rumor.
It’s unclear whether the port would be exclusive to the Switch 2 or whether it would include compatibility with the original Switch via updates. Recent history shows that HoYoverse prioritizes versions optimized for stronger hardware.
What this means for players
A release on Switch 2 would allow millions of console owners to access the title with cross-save between platforms, something the community has been asking for for years. Genshin Impact continues to be among the most played games in the world, with constant updates to regions, characters and events.
Today’s Nintendo Direct focuses on games from the second half of 2026. If the announcement occurs, it would follow the pattern of revealing major partnerships in general broadcasts, as happened with Genshin itself in 2020.
The event starts at 10am (Brasília time) and will be broadcast live on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. To date, HoYoverse has not officially commented on the leaks.
