The Shortcuts, Home, Image Playground and Photos applications will gain a series of features based on artificial intelligence on 27 systems, as announced this Monday by Apple in the opening keynote of WWDC26.
The update starts with Shortcuts, which will allow the use of Apple Intelligence to create automations from descriptions written in natural language by the user directly on the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
These descriptions will not be restricted only to the initial moment of creating the automations. The tool will also accept prompts in everyday language to make further adjustments and refinements to these routines.
The Home app, in turn, will become more intelligent and will be able to bring together related notifications in a format similar to Live Activity. This view will be updated automatically as the event or situation develops.
Another addition allows you to generate automatic summaries of videos captured by compatible security cameras. These cameras can now record in 4K resolution, giving the user a clear idea of what happened at home without having to watch the full video.
The Casa app also gains the ability to search for video recordings based on detected content, such as package deliveries or other events. According to Apple, the feature can relate videos with similar scenes and present several results at the same time.
Image Playground, which has received criticism since launch, has been completely overhauled. Now it allows you to enhance existing images, create custom backgrounds, contact posters and other options. The AI model has been updated, which makes it possible to generate images in different styles with much higher quality and fidelity.
In addition to performance gains, the Photos app incorporated new editing tools, which had already circulated in rumors before the event.
More specifically, the Extend and Reframe functions emerged. As the names suggest, they allow you to expand the content of images by generating additional parts and adjust the zoom or angle of a photo according to the user’s preference.
