Nintendo presented this Tuesday (9) a new Nintendo Direct full of announcements for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch, with emphasis on the remake ofThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timeand the arrival ofKingdom Hearts IV.
The Nintendo 64 classic returns in 2026 exclusively for the Switch 2, with a renewed look and features taking advantage of the new hardware. The trailer showed Link in Hyrule, reinforcing the appeal for fans of the series who were waiting for a modern version.
Kingdom Hearts IV gets gameplay and launch on Switch 2
Square Enix revealed new scenes fromKingdom Hearts IV, with Sora exploring the city of Quadratum. The game arrives on Switch 2 at launch, alongside a collection of previous titles in the series.
Fans who already have cloud versions on the original Switch will be able to migrate to the native Switch 2 editions at a discount.
Many releases and updates confirmed for 2026
Among the highlights areNintendo Switch Sports Resort, exclusive to Switch 2 with 12 sports modes and improved motion controls, scheduled for October.Splatoon Raiders, Star Fox(reimagined from Star Fox 64),Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave e Onimusha: Way of the Swordwere also given release dates or windows.
Free updates and paid DLCs have been announced forPokémon Pokopia, with underwater exploration, and temporary events forDonkey Kong. Ports and enhanced editions ofXenoblade Chronicles, minecraftwith improved visuals andRhythm Heaven Groovecomplete the package.
What changes for players
The Direct reinforces Nintendo’s focus on keeping the Switch 2 attractive with a mix of classic remakes, continuations of popular franchises and third-party support. Several titles offer immediate pre-orders on the eShop and demos, making it easier for players to schedule.
